I want some conversation. That's what I started my foodblog for, because I love deconstructing meals I've just cooked and talking about things I could have done better, or simply differently. That I've not had a single comment on it yet is an annoyance to that part of me, but that isn't the only reason I started it.

I want conversation. I want people to argue with me about something I think or believe, to have an intellectual discussion on whether or not Lesley should have green hair.

I want someone to start up a thread about the feminist implications of the Red Shoes fairytale, and to chat with me about the differences between the male and female underworld journeys in myth.

I guess I miss my writing course. And working on my BA. And my story brainstorming with buhfly on AIM. I just want some intellectual stimulation, dammit. I'm never missing my writer's group again.

I may not be for long. New!Local!Nursing Home has offered me some part-time admin work for as long as I want it. Steph's potential new job means she can work from either house.

I've been doing some thinking about the Red Shoes fairytale, wanting to rewrite it and combine it with another fairytale, so I'm very interested in your thoughts on it, especially the feminist implications. So, your thoughts?

It's certainly problematic. I'm absolutely intrigued by it, and repulsed at the same time. It has very strong Christian themes that are very strange. It's certainly different from modern Christian thought, and inconsistent with the Christianity presented in many similar tales (soldier meets devil in wood, man cheats devil; no moral outcome exists, suggesting that the devil is actually a nature spirit who has changed form over time). The Red Shoes was one of Hans's rather than the Grimms', wasn't it? So it can't be explained as a pre-Christian tale that's morphed.

Argh, I have to get off the computer, so I'll have to come back to this.

I have a receipe for a wheat free pastry if you like...I made myself wheat pasties I guess you could call them...they taste scrumptious..and could easily be made vegetarian..I put chicken in mine.

heya...I know i promised you a receipe for wheat free pasties...but I've been refining my "pastry" mix...so that it tastes more of pastry and sticks together instead of just tasting like flour(wheat free)....
