Steph has mocked me for fastening my bra at the back. She says I'm a freak. I pointed out that my mother and my sister also fasten theirs at the back, and she said we're a family of freaks. So raise your voices, my fellow back-fasteners! Let yourselves be heard!

It's a very elastic bra anyway, but it doesn't seem to affect it much. I can't really stand having to do it up all the time.

I used to do the whole cups at the back, do up at the front and twist but was made fun of by a friend AND a bra sales lady and therefore now do it up at the back.

Either or really, as long as it gets on it works.

Doing it up at the front seems to take a lot of effort. It seems to be much easier just to train yourself to fasten at the back. Plus the chafing of the twisting bra!

Gotta do it up in the back - it's meant to be bad for the bra to do it at the front, cause you twist and pull it in ways you're not meant to, and it makes it weaker.

That's what the lingerie party people claim. It does sound right though, because I'm sure pulling elastic around like that can't be good for it.

Reading down, I saw about the leaning forward thing. I think it's to make you sit better, rather than having to move them about too much afterwards.

Funny you should ask - I was discussing this with a Swiss girl, and she said she'd never seen anyone in Switzerland do anything but fasten in front. I was surprised since I thought everyone fastened at the back. I'll be watching the results of this poll. :)

My problem with doing them up at the back is, it's not that easy when you're well-endowed to get the bra spun around ... without a large bit of chafing!! S'much easier to be dexterous. ;)

i went to one of those lingerie parties once, and they did a hands up survey of this... and it turned out about 1/2 and 1/2... but we were told that you HAVE to do it up at the back. Not only that, but you're supposed to bend slightly forward when you do it so you don't have to "shuffle" too much after it's fastened... anything other than this will aparrently damage the bra!?
I already did it up at the back, but considering my lack of volume to "shuffle" I have neglected the bending forwards comment...

*laughs* I've been doing it since puberty, so it's pretty much second nature to me. Tell you what was hard: retraining myself to undo my girlfriend's bra behind her back. It's like trying to put your earrings on in a mirror.

I actually only wear sports bras or tube-top-thingies if I wear anything at all....but the necessary push-up requires three hooks in the back. So many things to learn at such a young, tender, and impressionable age.

What I'm curious is what women would prefer if they've got their Significant Other fastening the bra the way they do it. ( IE: forward-fasteners prefer to be fastened at the front by their S.O. and vice versa for back-fasteners. ) I would presume that they'd prefer to have it done the way they do it up, or maybe they'd rather not look at the person fastening their bra. *shrugs*
