Taxi ... or cab??
I have no idea anymore. So I thought I'd start up a community* called
uncommon_tongue. The purpose is to get English speakers of all over together to talk about the differences in language. Harry Potter fandomers ought to be particularly interested - we have "britpicking" raised to the level of an Olympic sport. And for some reason, damn near all of my writing seems to be set in England, and while I'm generally good at britpicking (Australian English is very similar, and I grew up watching BBC programs), sometimes my brain turns to soup and I get paranoid about whether I'm using the correct word. And hey, were I to ever set a story (or fic, I suppose) in the US or Canada, it might be nice to get some feedback about language. Also, have you ever wanted to know about Australian English? (Probably not, but humour me.)
And plus, I am just a HUGE language geek. So go! Join up! Let's get a debate going about how Australia and the UK use taps, but the US uses faucets!
Apparently I have so far today written 666 words for NaNo, bringing me up to a total of 7500. I am amused.
Oh, and a special little message to the mosquitos who have been feasting on my blood: I hope you die. I hope my blood contains some substance that you're allergic to. That'd be a nice irony.
*actually, I created it ages ago, but haven't bothered to start it up or do anything with it.

(and of course, when you're out with a group of ten and you're the *only* one they're going for, that just doubles the joy)
