I was in the theatre for almost 12 hours today, barring our dinner break, which I mostly spent travelling to RMIT to apologise to my Editing teacher for not being in the class.
Today I:
Threatened a cast member who was ill-advisedly running in the theatre that if he broke his leg, I'd break his face
Threatened the cast that if they didn't pay attention and make their cues (for all the set they have to set and strike), I'd fry their livers and eat them.
I believe my work here is done.
I want to make myself a theatre icon that says: "'Pon my oath, I am not a shouty man..."
I have Mack the goddamn Knife stuck in my head. Can you tell I'm working on Threepenny Opera?
Would you believe I actually worked on a Wackiness comic last night? But was too damn tired to actually finish it. Much like tonight, in fact. *zonks out at keyboard*

Date: 2004-10-12 08:42 am (UTC)I believe I greeted one of my producers at the theatre door today with "welcome to hell".
I lovelovelove "The Cannon Song"/"Song of the Three Soldiers" and "The Jealously Duet"...I have a recording of all of the songs in German and I just love it.
*is gushing, because tired"

Date: 2004-10-12 07:39 pm (UTC)Before I did this show I was working as an assistant director for a highschool production of Twelfth Night! I'm yet to work with animals though...*has ponderous thoughts about doing a show with children, animals, and stupid adults*
I hated the play when I first heard it read, it was the score that grabbed me first and I've worked my way up to loving it from there.

Date: 2004-10-12 08:21 pm (UTC)The head of the theatre department at my high school was an unreconstructedred socialist, which is why we did the play (and a couple of others like it)
Of course trying to sell that idea to a bunch of middle class private school parents was another matter. Needless to say, she didn't last a very long time as head of department.

Date: 2004-10-13 09:57 pm (UTC)As far as I understand it, 'reconstructed' socialists are those who follow the post-Stalinist line.
