I so have to put this in my journal, because I'm never going to hear the like again:

Hmm.. yeah, so delirieuse was there, and she is the ultimate in *cool*. She knew so much about everything, and her hair is purple and blue. - from [livejournal.com profile] wickedcherub (My bold)

Hehehe. I am so teh kewl.

Moving right along.

Steph came over Saturday night, and we picked up A Fish Called Wanda (which she hadn't seen before), A Midsummer Night's Dream ("But... this is a video shop. We don't have plays!") and Nightmare Before Christmas. Fish Called Wanda was, of course, great. Spiffy. Fantabulosa. Midsummer Night's Dream was also surprisingly good. Nightmare Before Christmas was a bit eh. The world was great, the animation was great, but it just felt a bit hollow, as if they'd adapted a book for screen, or they'd had to (for budget reasons) change a miniseries' worth of plot into a movie. It was a bit disappointing.

Afterwards, we sat around outside and talked about everything until about half-past seven, once again proving the old equation that Steph + Dani != Sleep.

Today we headed into the city and watched Big Fish with Liam. It was far better than I'd feared, and I think it broke all of us by the end. I really liked it.

I'm utterly buggered from lack of sleep, so I think it's bedtime now. G'night.

I know, everyone does! I guess Steph and I had just too much expectation of it. I mean, I really loved the world, and the character design and everything, it just felt strangely hollow. I can't put my finger on it...

When I first saw it, my best friend (at the time) Nicole's baby sister Stephanie (2 years) was watching it. I was all, "WTF is that?" And she's all, "Oh, it's some kids movie." All I could think was, "That would have scared me as a baby." Then I watched it years later and luuuuuffed it. (Actually, I heard the soundtrack first, over and over, because of one of my roommates, and loved that, first. Maybe that has something to do with it. Or...something.)

*grins* Yeah, I couldn't understand it being a kid's movie... I mean, pretty damn scary. But then, Neil Gaiman's Coraline freaks out adults whilst kids find it an adventure story, sooo...

*nods* With Tim Burton directing, or some such. I've heard that, too...

No, wait; Henry Selick. Who directed Nightmare Before Christmas and the suchlike.
