"Anacronym"'s a damn funny word.
Nov. 22nd, 2003 04:20 amFirstly, the Real Life incident alluded to in the previous post has been solved. So far. I think. This is a good thing.
So. My youngest sister now has a LJ. I suggested she get one this evening, as I understood that Jacinta wanted to get in contact with her.
I've been putting this off for some time, as my journal has never exactly been kid-friendly (and when I'm 20, and you're 12, you're a kid. There is no argument here. Just the same as you were a little kid when you were 5. Just because you didn't believe it, doesn't mean it's not true). I have all these high ideals now to use LJ-cuts (which reminds me: I should probably teach the kid how to use them) and/or filters, and perhaps a cute little acronym, like
copperbadge does. I reckon this will last a week, at most. Then it'll be back to the regular content, with swearing and so forth. Kara will be reading porn, and comics of dubious taste. And quite probably fanfiction involving Ron and the Giant Squid in compromising positions. Perhaps I should just tell her to not read any sentence that has the word "slash" in it. And to not follow any links I post in my LJ. Really. They all lead to soul-bendingly evil stuff. And not in a good way.
Good lord, I'm going to lose my elder sister licence, aren't I?
So the kid's been saying that I've been trying to get her to get one [LJ] for some time, but this is an extension of the truth, or what we used to call "lying". I really haven't been trying that hard. If I had, she would have had one by now. Trust me on this. You know what she says to me straight away? "I don't even like pink." So suggest a username, so I don't get desperate and suggest something random. And if the latter happens, don't accept something that you don't want to be associated with. "It sounded cool," she said. On another note, she used the word "abyss" in her first entry. I'm so damn proud.
In a not-suitable-for-Kara kind of moment, I listened to the song by Pansy Division called Bill and Ted's Homosexual Adventure. It disturbed me. I don't think I ever want to sleep again.
Also, the dictionary tells me that it has one entry listed for "anacronym", but it lies. It LIES like a lying thing.
I've been watching Zim. And reading "The Story About The Baby." Can you tell? I actually laughed so hard at the latter (I'd been standing up at the time), I lost my balance and nearly fell over and brained myself on the sharp corners of the yellow box that holds my craft stuff. I was amused to find an online saying coming true. Right up to the point where my brain fell on the floor.
Also, if I may be permitted to use an American expression here for a moment, imageless browsing SUCKS ASS. It hoovers donkey. I'm serious about this. Damn, when does this month end?

Date: 2003-11-21 06:58 pm (UTC)she's 12? that'll only make her want to click the links and LJ cuts and so on. Tell here there's something horrendously mind-numbingly boring under the cut. Like mathematical formulas or a DVD player set-up instructions.

And I never pushed you underwater at the pools. That's a vicious lie.

Date: 2003-11-21 08:37 pm (UTC)Yeah, that's because the spell checker's American, and an American a long time ago decided that differentiating between verbs and nouns was too hard. And they wonder why their country's going down the toilet.

Date: 2003-11-21 11:26 pm (UTC)There's a licence for being an Elder Sibling? Uh oh. * whistles innocently and finds a good forger. * So there's some sort of sibling police out there. Hmmm, I wonder what they're called and what my file looks like now.
*shrugs* On the other hand, better that she learn such things from her siblings rather than some sort of random stranger off the internet/street/schoolyard. And at least siblings tend to be there for the emotional support, if not the explanations.
