May. 22nd, 2003 11:05 pmSpoke to Sara and Nat about the Masquerade today, and they strongly discouraged me. I was feeling very discouraged until I got home, and more than one person had actually responded to the last post!
At the moment, we have eight probables, and six possibles. That's not brilliantly bad. All you people interested in coming, talk to your friends about it and see if they're interested. The more people, the bigger the slap-bang night. Or something.
Having had several people bleat at me over monetary concerns (just an excuse to use the word bleat, no offence intended), I think I'll prolly go with the scout hall option. I'd like to check it out first, of course, but if that all works out, that's one less thing to worry about.
I'm thinking buffet is the way to go in terms of the food. Less worry about catering that way. If we get desperate, we can always resort to the "everyone bring a plate", although I'd rather not.
I may talk to people at the Wendy-class tomorrow and see if anyone's interested. Mo' people is mo' better.
I went through Myer's shoe department, and also four or five other shoe shops at lunch today; that's all I did. Didn't find anything even remotely promising. I feel a pout coming on. I also wonder how much it would be to get a pair of boots custom-made.
I can't wait until Saturday when I can sleep.

Date: 2003-05-22 06:10 am (UTC)There's definitely a few options for buffet type food - they've got a pie warmer as well for stuff, plus our house is next door if we need more oven room.

Date: 2003-05-23 03:46 am (UTC)I can update a couple of my old masks, scrape the mildew off the old cape and claim to be a silversmith from Darwin! Yeah!
Or perhaps coming as a pirate in masque...with parrot in full masque as well! Ooooh, keep me in touch!
The San Remo Ballroom on Nicholson St. (on the 96) is a common location for these kinds of things, or possibly the function room above the Parkview Hotel on Scotchmer St. (on the 112 tramline)
Anyway, be well,
