I think it says something about my current collection of friends when I read in [livejournal.com profile] nailer's journal that he met up with a just-graduated high school girl and instinctively had the same flinch reflex I would have had if Laim told me he was about to go out with a grade sixer. Then he mentions his age (21) and I mentally thwap myself over the head. Hmm.

Spent all day at the ballet concert, more later tomorrow (prolly). Complete write-off of a day, but apparently I'm getting paid for it. Didn't see that one coming.

So. Terry Pratchett next week (I have it circled on my calendar). I wonder if I can coerce Dad into taking some of my books with him to work. I counted the number of unsigned Pratchett books (including the two GURPS books) and I have at least 26 (I think I have a few not on my shelf) not including the three diaries. I don't think I could rock up with that many in all conscience. So. Which ones?

At this stage I'm thinking Last Hero, the weird evil-edition-of-Pratchett-in-German, the newest book (which I'll buy on the day), Guards! Guards! graphic novel and maybe The Unadulterated Cat.

Am also seriously considering making t-shirt from this Wackiness comic and wearing it on the day...or is that too fan-girly?

...

May even redraw it and post it in honour of the event.

*whimper*

The actor that plays your son, has he told you that he's been jeered at on the street?

Oh, no. He's a very good-looking boy, Tom, very smooth, he looks like he should be in a boy band, looks like he is a boy band, all by himself. And when I arrived it was just after Valentine's Day, and this is the first year, unlike last year, where they were all actually sending Valentines cards to each other, because they're all growing up, these kids. I think Tom got a fair old hefty sackful this year. I think I will have given him legions more female fans because I watched the first film for some inspiration and I looked at this horrible little git who was my son. When I arrived and we played the first scene, we went straight into the first scene, and I just grabbed him by the ear, and then I rapped him on the knuckles, and he looked up at me really hurt. I didn't know if it was Tom or Draco that was looking so hurt, because I just thought it was right that Lucius I a really horrible Dad, really abusive Dad. And I could see generations of Malfoys stretching back into time where the fathers have been cold and brutal and hideous to their kids and that's what turns the kids into that. And for me it makes it far more understandable why Draco's like that at school. He gets no love at home, it's a horrible loveless place, and suddenly he' at school and he's not going to let anyone else enjoy themselves, he's resentful of real friendships for instance, and so I think I get him the compassionate vote, which you wouldn't have thought Draco would ever get from anybody.

-nicked from [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical's journal. I'd love to source it, but she didn't write where it came from.

Poor ickle Draco.

I have a new desktop & colours. Pretty Slytherin. By the by, does anyone know where to get a decent Slytherin Winamp skin? I can't find them anywhere, and I spent most of last night looking for them.

Also, Avril should die. In a friendly, Avril-should-die-painfully sorta way.
