I think it says something about my current collection of friends when I read in [livejournal.com profile] nailer's journal that he met up with a just-graduated high school girl and instinctively had the same flinch reflex I would have had if Laim told me he was about to go out with a grade sixer. Then he mentions his age (21) and I mentally thwap myself over the head. Hmm.

Spent all day at the ballet concert, more later tomorrow (prolly). Complete write-off of a day, but apparently I'm getting paid for it. Didn't see that one coming.

So. Terry Pratchett next week (I have it circled on my calendar). I wonder if I can coerce Dad into taking some of my books with him to work. I counted the number of unsigned Pratchett books (including the two GURPS books) and I have at least 26 (I think I have a few not on my shelf) not including the three diaries. I don't think I could rock up with that many in all conscience. So. Which ones?

At this stage I'm thinking Last Hero, the weird evil-edition-of-Pratchett-in-German, the newest book (which I'll buy on the day), Guards! Guards! graphic novel and maybe The Unadulterated Cat.

Am also seriously considering making t-shirt from this Wackiness comic and wearing it on the day...or is that too fan-girly?

...

May even redraw it and post it in honour of the event.

The Wackiness t-shirt idea is a good one, and I support it.

It also happens to be one of my favourite Wackiness comics.

TP is great.

Yeh, 's a pretty good one. :D

Maybe I'll do that then. I have those transferry things, now all I need is a t-shirt. :)

Not sure if that meant `you read and flinched' or `I met up with and flinched'. I think you probably meant the former, but there latter is kinda true too. It does seem a bit odd to be out with someone younger than me, but then again, I've never really felt that connected with uni people my age either - either way, the path I've chosen over the last few years is a lot different to my contemporaries, whether they're the same age or a few years either way. I guess the important thing is that I'm comfortable with and can relate to someone - age shouldn't really matter unless it affects either of these. Since Corinne's age came as a surprise after having a fairly in depth conversation about music, it doesn't really concern me that much. However, there's obviously other concerns here :(.

So what does your reaction say about your current collection of friends?

What it says is this:

I'm getting used to being the baby of the group again, but the difference isn't just a couple of years any more. Daniel, Sarah and Liam are only about a year or so older, but Fin, Ben, Sara, Carol and Chris are a fair bit more than that. Carol's what, 26ish? The difference between a 26 or 27 year old going out with a school leaver and a 21 year old going out with a school leaver is quite large, I think.

Carol's 24... she was born in 79.

Now... Ben's 26.

I think you should wear it. And take a hard copy to a) give to him or b) get signed.

Then again, I am all for encouraging fan-girly-ness.
