Went to Chadstone today. Got lost about three times looking for the art shop. Passed two info booths, but pride prevented me from asking directions. I circumnavigated the damn place. I swear, it's about three times as large as it was when I was small, and I'm sure there's pixies that move all the shops and change the whole damn structure when you're not looking.

Still, I purchased, in total: material to cover the book; thick card for the covers (no Davey board, worse luck); fixative (which has run out... must buy more tomorrow); two boxes of bulldog clips (50mm and 32 mm); a PURPLE exacto knife (which is exceedingly nifty); white glue and patterned paper for the endpapers.

Things I forgot to buy: gauzy material for the spine. Boo. To my credit, it wasn't actually on the list I took with me, and I didn't know what I was looking for. Having spoken to mother tonight, apparently I need to purchase woven interfacing. I b'leeve a trip to Spotlight tomorrow morning may be in order.

I also didn't buy a steel ruler; the ones in the craft shop were about $6, and I can get one at Deans art in the city for about $3.

I'm really glad I bought that bookmaking book last week at Deans. I was originally planning on purchasing a big fuck-off tin of rubber cement (because I like the stuff, dammit), but I've posted to [livejournal.com profile] handmadebooks, and apparently rubber cement is about the evillest thing you could try to use in making books.

Starting to approach the finish line, now. I only have eight more sections to sew; this is dependant mostly on me purchasing more fixative.

I made paste today, from the recipe given to me by a kindly soul at the aforementioned [livejournal.com profile] handmadebooks; I shall post the recipe tomorrow, along with the photos I've taken, and a running commentary of sorts.

I'm a little worried about how I'm going to press all the sections together as I glue them to the woven interfacing &c. The largest bulldog clips I have only just hold 16 sections; I have 31 in total. I fear I may have to mosey on down to Bunnings and purchase a few small G-clamps as well. Sigh.

I have measured the fairy tales book, and also a King Arthur hardcover I have (alas, in much better condition), and am mildly confident that I can put together the actual cover itself with reasonable success. I am planning on putting together a practise one, first, however, to be sure of the dimensions.

You're Dave Lister.

King of the slobs, and master of insubordination,
you try to make the best of your life even
though you're the last living human. If only
people would see things your way once in a
while... they'd probably be in pieces by now ;)

I have a response back from [livejournal.com profile] verian in regards to presses available in Australia; apparently the brand to look for is "Adana". I searched ebay and tradingpost.com.au to no avail, however. Still, one lives in hope.

Now, the Nocturne Alleyish stuff:

sinistraSinistra is so beautifully evil. I'm in such total love for that list.

pinkstargirlieLavender frightens me enormously. My little sister had a friend wo became anorexic. I thought she was just a fluffy girl who had bad attitudes to food, but this shows an actual eating disorder. I really hope one of the teachers steps in soon.

It looks like colin_creeveyColin is setting up some sort of We Hate Potter club. This should be intriguing.
However, it seems I cannot download his ode. Wah! If someone else could, and send it to me some time, I would be most grateful.

I am intrigued by the argument that wheresmytoadNeville is some sort of Evil Overlord. It does make me want to see X Men again, though; just for the glory of Magneto. (And Logan/Iceman slash, but that's neither here nor there.) Forget some strange possibly-a-woman trying to split open the midget's head in Passions (which just made me think of dapper Mr Trotsky); this community is where the true drama lies.

Lastly, but by no means leastly (you know what I mean): Av's pictures of Supai and Urcaguary are awesome. I would have left a comment, but I feel that every time I leave a note in either Av or Sandra's journals, I'm completely incapable of leaving sane, constructive comments, and instead am reduced to some sort of Lavenderesque parody of myself thusly:
OMG!!!1 :>:> This picture's So COOL! <3<3<3 Your so clever!!!1 :">
<3Delirieuse<3

So, to save my own sense of self and pride, I make a small comment here. The pictures are extremely cool. Av draws them with such life and realism, and a real sense of personality.

Supai reminds me a little of Snape... but you DID NOT HEAR THAT FROM ME.

Go Av.

Yes, that signature was a joke.
