Eurgh. Lurgy.
Jul. 14th, 2008 12:28 pmSteph and I have had this lurgy since Saturday night last week. It seemed we were getting better this Saturday, but Sunday I woke up and felt like death. We probably should have cancelled cards, but we hadn't hosted it for months and I wanted to see people. Unfortunately, I only got worse throughout the day, but since playing cards is a relatively stationary activity, I was mostly OK. We played scopa, which required about as much mental agility as I was able to put in (though even then I had to resign 2/3 of the way into the second game). Later we played Munchkin, which was totally worth it to introduce Tanya – a long-time D&Der – to the game. At some stage, Anthony and I were chatting about Lovecraft and I managed to confuse Dunsany with Derleth, which was confusing for both of us until my brain caught up with my mouth.
So I'm not at work today, which is why I'm rather uncharacteristically actually online (I can't get online at work, and we frequently have Other Things to Do in the evenings and on weekends). I'm feeling quite cheerful, apart from the fact that my throat hurts and I swear I know the position of every gland on my body, because all of them ache. Especially the ones under my jaw. Although, to look on the bright side, at least it isn't pleurisy.
The downside is that although I have an enormous, awesome vegan muffaletta to eat, it's also all I'm going to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Steph will be at morris dancing, and I am locked in the house due to leaving my keys at work. All our spare keys are with other people, all of whom have jobs.
