Wow, that kind of ruins the ending, doesn't it?

If the internet is just a series of tubes, does that mean the Computer Internet is a series of computer tubes? More importantly, does this means there are other kinds of internets? Have we been saying "the internets" in jest for years, but actually been correct? I MUST KNOW!

Not necessarily. If this is anything like a Mary Higgins Clark, she dies in the first 20 pages. Then our Heroine^TM spends the rest of the book nearly getting into the same predicament, but gets saved at the last minute by The Dashing Hero^TM.
