So we've started to watch Supernatural. I don't understand why Sam and Dean don't just get licences as PIs. Suddenly all the "no, I'm totally from the Park Service" crap, including the inevitable "outing" pretty much every episode, would go away, and they'd still have the option to pretend they were FBI agents occasionally. Really pretty and young FBI agents.

We also started watching the second season of House a week or two ago. I'm annoyed they've changed the music. The only theme music just sounded like a theme tune, but the new one sounds like the intro to a Lamb song, which I promptly get lodged in my brain for the next day and a half.

We went out last night to celebrate Hedda's permanent residency. I'm so glad that's finally come through. Now she and Liam don't have to worry as much about medical problems, because she can get Medicare. Hooray!

My new 3 mobile finally got connected yesterday. It only took them three days. I then got called on the shiny new 3 phone to be informed that we haven't got the house in Yarraville. Much disappointment.

This only makes four so far, but it's almost been a month. Not a very long time to be looking, say all my savvy rental friends, but I'm frustrated and I want out NOW. Steph reminded me last night that C & B, our friends from morris, looked for SEVEN MONTHS before finding a place. I don't want to wait that long. We have half our stuff in boxes already!

I really don't want to spend every weekend for seven months looking at houses. Steph and I are already buggered. We need some time off. As it is, we'll probably be going to inspections this weekend instead of/as well as the morris dance day. So much for the couple of days off we (particularly Steph) need so badly.

I dunno. It's hard to think positive thoughts about finding a house all the time, as Steph, Nat, and The Secret tell me to. I only get really disappointed when the application falls through. Again.

Oh, I get really disappointed as well. I also keep worrying about whether my doubts keep sabotaguing us, considering I keep reading about how tight the rental market is.

I'm just trying to trust that the Universe knows what house we should be moving into, we just haven't found it yet. ;-)

STOP READING STUFF ABOUT THE RENTAL MARKET! End of problem, ;)

I'm not that down, we've barely ramped up into what I would call "proper" searching, so no problems! :))

I would like to suggest that maybe Dani and I should do a lot of the ground work over here, so then you're not constantly travelling all over the joint. What do you think? We'll take photos!

But, if we're doing that I might need you to have a look at getting quotes for utilities/bank accounts for us... but hopefully that will mostly be a case of emailing them or ringing them up and you won't have to travel so much...!

I KNOW. I have to stop watching the news as well, they keep talking about it as well. *facepalm*

That's cool with me! As I've said, I don't mind coming over if we're seeing a few places, but if you guys are happy to do the searching without me, I'll trust your judgement!

I can do that. I'm happy to do research into stuff like that, gives me something to do at work!

That'd be great if we could divide it that way! Thanks!

don't just get licences as PIs To get those you'd have to get a pretty thorough Police check I think, I don't want to spoil anything but they aren't unknown to the police. I think it's part of how they've grown up too, they have virtually no paper trail. =)

Good Luck with housing stuff, it's a pain in the arse organising moving.

Hmm. I've gathered the "not unknown" bit so far, but still ... I just feel that even a fake PI card would be better than a fake Forestry Service card. People expect PIs to be dodgy geezers, y'know?

YESYESYESYES.

They probably do have fake ones, they just aren't as theatrical. =D

The House theme in the US is the start of 'Teardrop', by Massive Attack, which is an awesome, awesome song. I'm guessing it was a rights reason why Australia had to use something similar but not the same.

Still, first time I downloaded an episode rather than watched in from channel 10, I was thrown too.

Aha, Massive Attack. I was listening to that at around the same time I was listening to Lamb. Hence the confusion.

I like the other music better still.

I love Teardrop by Massive Attack, I was glad they changed it as I think it sounds better :)

*does not want to spoil* Dean can't, let's leave it at that. Sam could, but this is not what he wants to do with his life, if that hasn't been made apparent, yet. :) It takes more than just a desire to get a PI license to actually acquire one in the US....

Hmmm sounds like the rental situation is a bit of a bummer. They just put our rent up. AND we got a junkie living in the halfway house (flat) opposite ours. Nice park though. I think the whole rental crisis thing on the news is a bit of a self-perpetuating thing which gives greedy landlords the excuse to hike rents. annoying.

LUCK!!

Ick.

Well, to be a devil's advocate, the landlords are probably thinking about how much their interest rates have gone up, and how they're never going to be able to pay off their mortgage, even with a rental property or two.

Thanks! I think I need it.

Also, "The Secret" is actually a CHurch of Scientology 'front' video. So I hope you're not taking it too seriously!

I haven't seen the film, but I got given the book for Christmas. I haven't read it all the way through, but most of the theory/philosophy I've read in it I've seen elsewhere. Not very new information.

I haven't come across a Scientology link. Where did you hear of it?

Hi! I watched 'The Secret' when it was on telly (yep, I was home on a Friday night!) and I was thinking - whoah all this stuff sounds a lot like Dianetics (Scientology's 'science') and EST (an off-shoot of Scientology, also known as LANDMARK) so I just googled some of the 'philosophers' and sure enough most of them were Scientologists or EST people. Also, my parents' neighbours are in EST / Landmark and they've been raving on about 'The Secret' for a couple of months. For a beaut book exposing the homophobic, racist and exploitative machinations behind Scientology and its ilk check out "BARE FACED MESSIAH".

Be very grateful that House is one of the few series released which is given extras and commentary like U.S.A. There are other series which aren't given those extras when they're released onto PAL friendly DVD collections. *glares at CBS & Belisarius Studios*

People give me all these stats about finding a place... which i too am currently doing.

They say it takes 6 months of constant looking to get one.

I think its hell too. Im not looking forward to it when i get back. Last year, as i remember, it was really depressing. I felt like such a no hoper, especially when i couldnt meet up to various standard people had. And there were times i would think it must have been something i said on the phone. Thats the worst (*grumbals about answering machines*).

Then, one day, a nice place to live for the right price, just fell at my feet in the form of a random french stranger who i met and the street.

Scuse spelling and grammer... at work, in a hurry - no valid excuse.

It took us one month of constant looking - at least two applications submitted each week.

On the plus side, it's not necessarily that there's anything wrong with you, it may just be that other people got their applications in first. It's a tough rental market at the moment.
