Various things.
Mar. 14th, 2007 10:26 amSo we've started to watch Supernatural. I don't understand why Sam and Dean don't just get licences as PIs. Suddenly all the "no, I'm totally from the Park Service" crap, including the inevitable "outing" pretty much every episode, would go away, and they'd still have the option to pretend they were FBI agents occasionally. Really pretty and young FBI agents.
We also started watching the second season of House a week or two ago. I'm annoyed they've changed the music. The only theme music just sounded like a theme tune, but the new one sounds like the intro to a Lamb song, which I promptly get lodged in my brain for the next day and a half.
We went out last night to celebrate Hedda's permanent residency. I'm so glad that's finally come through. Now she and Liam don't have to worry as much about medical problems, because she can get Medicare. Hooray!
My new 3 mobile finally got connected yesterday. It only took them three days. I then got called on the shiny new 3 phone to be informed that we haven't got the house in Yarraville. Much disappointment.
This only makes four so far, but it's almost been a month. Not a very long time to be looking, say all my savvy rental friends, but I'm frustrated and I want out NOW. Steph reminded me last night that C & B, our friends from morris, looked for SEVEN MONTHS before finding a place. I don't want to wait that long. We have half our stuff in boxes already!
I really don't want to spend every weekend for seven months looking at houses. Steph and I are already buggered. We need some time off. As it is, we'll probably be going to inspections this weekend instead of/as well as the morris dance day. So much for the couple of days off we (particularly Steph) need so badly.
I dunno. It's hard to think positive thoughts about finding a house all the time, as Steph, Nat, and The Secret tell me to. I only get really disappointed when the application falls through. Again.

Date: 2007-03-14 02:39 am (UTC)I'm not that down, we've barely ramped up into what I would call "proper" searching, so no problems! :))
I would like to suggest that maybe Dani and I should do a lot of the ground work over here, so then you're not constantly travelling all over the joint. What do you think? We'll take photos!
But, if we're doing that I might need you to have a look at getting quotes for utilities/bank accounts for us... but hopefully that will mostly be a case of emailing them or ringing them up and you won't have to travel so much...!

Date: 2007-03-14 03:01 am (UTC)That's cool with me! As I've said, I don't mind coming over if we're seeing a few places, but if you guys are happy to do the searching without me, I'll trust your judgement!
I can do that. I'm happy to do research into stuff like that, gives me something to do at work!

Date: 2007-03-16 09:41 am (UTC)Well, to be a devil's advocate, the landlords are probably thinking about how much their interest rates have gone up, and how they're never going to be able to pay off their mortgage, even with a rental property or two.
Thanks! I think I need it.

Date: 2007-03-19 06:44 am (UTC)They say it takes 6 months of constant looking to get one.
I think its hell too. Im not looking forward to it when i get back. Last year, as i remember, it was really depressing. I felt like such a no hoper, especially when i couldnt meet up to various standard people had. And there were times i would think it must have been something i said on the phone. Thats the worst (*grumbals about answering machines*).
Then, one day, a nice place to live for the right price, just fell at my feet in the form of a random french stranger who i met and the street.
Scuse spelling and grammer... at work, in a hurry - no valid excuse.

Date: 2007-03-27 02:49 am (UTC)On the plus side, it's not necessarily that there's anything wrong with you, it may just be that other people got their applications in first. It's a tough rental market at the moment.
