Urgh. Feel absolutely bushed. Have had a hellishly busy last few months, but lo! my course is over and I have my graduation ceremony next week, and a dinner with Steph's and my families this weekend. And, most brilliant of brilliant happenings, my new bed was delivered yesterday. This was originally my Christmas present, but my parents switched it to a graduation present in lieu of something more transportable to Queensland. It's very exciting - it brings the end to Steph's and my sleeping on the floor for the last three months; rather a big problem in a room as small as mine. We had to roll away our bed every morning in order to get out of the room.
In celebration, I went out and beat the living hell out of my two single-bed duvets, which I strung up on the line. I haven't done this ... oh, well, ever, so the clouds of fine off-white powder were many and large. It was disturbing and gross. The racquet I used got covered and I had to wipe it off with a tissue.
It struck me that there are so many details to keeping house that you never get taught at school - and why not, I'd like to ask - and if your parents aren't the perfect housekeepers, you may never learn them. Your only hope is to marry someone with greater housing smarts than your own ... I don't know. Why don't they teach us this stuff in home ec? It's just as important as how to make a traffic-light sandwich.
Hm. Want to start drawing this year's Christmas cards. I have some half-formed ideas for two or three, and if I want to get them done in time I need to send them before I leave for Queensland ... but on the other hand, I've been so absent from the online world this year that I don't suppose I'll really have anyone to send them to. My QLD relatives certainly wouldn't appreciate them.
Want my Livejournal icons back. Maybe if I last a good month or so of proper use I might buy them for myself again. Save up. I also want to redesign the whole thing. Maybe I'll see if I can bring the laptop to Queensland ... I don't know.
MIRRORMASK! We're going tonight. It's finally been released in Australia (I got an letter announcing it and telling me where I can catch it - too bad the cinema stated was in Sydney). I can't wait. I need to run - I want to have some vegan snacks prepared for the movie tonight. Mirrormask! EEEEEE!

Date: 2005-12-15 02:49 pm (UTC)I'm sure I've heard of Proserpine! Or maybe I just like the sound of the name.

Date: 2005-12-10 07:49 am (UTC)And I have NO idea why this stuff isn't taught in home ec. I don't know what a traffic light sandwich is, but I'd like to know more about caring for down comforters than sandwich-making, that's for sure. Or even how to embroider a simple running stitch.
