As earlymorningair has already noted in her journal, she and I will be taking part in Midwinta (a group GBLT commitment ceremony) this Saturday. It'll be the first time we'll have exchanged vows in public-- well, exchanged vows in front of witnesses, at least. Here's what the Midwinta website says:

"Midwinta Vows encores the smash hit of the 2004 Midsumma Carnival, Summa Vows, where some 600 people exchanged vows as part of a huge group Commitment Ceremony.

I love my girl. This is why one day we will be stopping off in Amsterdam or Canada to get married - and why we'll be living in the UK, which is far more likely to recognise the legitimacy of our bond.

Very pleased to read that you are doing this! Despite this, I wouldn't hold out much hope for a "good government" anytime soon. Unfortunately, if the situation requires that you relocate overseas (a pathetic requirement, I might add) then what it really comes down to: do what makes the two of you happy!

P.S. If I were you, I'd be looking at Spain. Lifestyle is far less expensive and far more interesting :)
