changeling Two pale glows appeared at the edge of the lamplight. Eventually they turned out to be the eyes of a small grey creature, vaguely froglike, paddling towards them on a log.
It reached the boat. Long clammy fingers grabbed the side, and a lugubious face rose level with Nanny Ogg's.
"'ullo," it said. "It'sss my birthday."
All three of them stared at it for a while. Then Granny Weatherwax picked up an oar and hit if firmly over the head. There was a splash, and a distant cursing.
"Horrible little bugger," said Granny, as they rowed on. "Looked like a troublemaker to me."
"Yeah," said Nanny Ogg. "It's the slimy ones you have to watch out for."
"I wonder what he wanted?" said Magrat.

Well, had a miserable day at work. Won't bother you with the grisly details.
Keenspace still isn't working. However, I have a first-draft site up (although it's not loading) and I have a new! comic in the files...which also isn't showing.
In other news, I'm going to try to get a novel down in February. With any luck I'll be able to get a serious chunk down at least. 's a murder mystery. At the moment it's set in a theatre. Don't know what production is being put on, but I suspect it'll end up being My Fair Lady, because I've been in that one and therefore the research required is minimal. I have a victim and two suspects, but no murderer, motive or crime scene yet. However, considering I have 25 words down, I think that's excusable. I even have a plot twist...
Well, at least I know where the girl's being killed. I even have my witness down. I also have two books on writing mysteries, so even if I don't get much done, I think it'll be a learning experience for all involved.
