Dropped Steph home Sunday night after the final Akasha class (or, as I've been calling it for it, Paganism in the Park). We got rather distracted talking of this and that, and skimming through Dinotopia, so it was quite late when I prepared to leave. Steph offered that I could stay over for the night, but as my family had just returned home, and in any case I am always reticent to stay over when I have no clean clothes at all to change into, I declined. I ended up getting home after everyone had gone to bed in any case, which was most frustrating.

Yesterday felt like a Saturday. I was in utter denial all day of it being a Monday. I was a little virtuous: I cleaned out my cosmetics & suchlike box as instructed by Steph's first to-do list. Later I was eager to get out of the house, and also to purchase some decent skincare products & also saddle soap, to clean my boots. I walked over to the local supermarket, then the pharmacy, before looping around to the hardware store. I didn't find any saddle soap anywhere, but I did manage to get a plethora of skincare accoutrements, which is exciting. I haven't bought a decent cleanser, toner and moisturiser ever.

I also discovered that I had something like five hundred dollars more in my bank account than I expected. This was terribly exciting, and I started planning how I could spend it. I thought I might allow myself a CD or two, as I'd been thinking of buying some. I didn't buy any last year, and I'm hungry for new music. I also started thinking about possibly buying myself a new pair of boots for my birthday (It's a shame they still haven't button-up boots. I'll just have to save up for a pair of those when they come out).

EEEE!!! I'm so excited! The patterns I ordered at the end of last month have finally arrived! They are a Victorian Natural form underskirt and overskirt, as well as a dinner jacket. I'm hoping to have them made by my birthday so I can wear them on Puffing Billy. I might go fabric shopping later today.

In other news, WHAT THE HELL IS A YARD? I want definitions here in metric, people. I know it's a unit of measurement. Guess I'll just have to google it. Ah, Google, my old friend. You are like the Babel Fish in taking down all barriers to communication between cultures.

A meter is 1.093 yards, if that tells you anything. Fabric in the US is sold in yards, which is pretty much the equivalent of a meter. A yard is 36 inches of fabric, or 91.44 centimeters.

Does that help?

It does, thanks. It was mostly a rhetorical question, though, as I was planning on using Google's conversion thingie to work out how much fabric I need. *mwahs*

Psh, it's a foreign unit of measurement, fool.

Hee! Thanks! It was made by [livejournal.com profile] soniablu, if you asked you'd probably be allowed to grab a copy...

I already have a pair of Victorian boots from Lorian's, so I don't think I'll get them in time for my birthday (only a month away!). I may save up and get them later this year. Or wait until they put out the button-ups.

*grins* Yeah, so [livejournal.com profile] imaginaryfields said. It was really just my frustration that the pattern only had directions in American. I'm used to commercial patterns still having it in metric, even if I have to flail because said metric thingies are in French.

Perhaps, but not particularly useful when I'm trying to buy fabric. We work in metres and centimetres here. :)

Silly Australians. Feh. They only sell fabric in yards here.
