Sep. 4th, 2004 10:07 pmA statement posted on an internet forum in the name of an Islamic militant group indicated Chechen rebels were responsible for taking over a school in the southern Russian town of Beslan, but blamed the Russian government for the bloody outcome of the siege.
The statement issued in the name of The Islambouli Brigades distanced itself from the school attack, in which death toll reports were running as high as 250, though it did not criticise it and called the hostage-takers' demands "justified." The authenticity of the statement could not be verified.

Date: 2004-09-05 05:13 am (UTC)I'm sorry... I know I probably don't know all the facts, but you do not send the army in, guns a-blazing, into a place crowded with children. No matter how badly you might want to catch the bad guys.

Date: 2004-09-05 06:22 am (UTC)I hope they didn't do that, the idiots.
But I heard it was a forced rush to attack (they say they were going to collect bodies of the deceased thrown outside the building, the rebels thought they were attacking, and everything went mad from there).
God, it sickens me.
