I don't understand how I've spent the last two years under a permanent writer's block...

My mother is of the opinion you can't really write until you have life experience, which apparently I don't have.

Basically - you can only write what you know. And if you've been Little Miss Sheltered, like I apparently have, that's all you know how to write.

I think she has a point... the only thing that's really had impact on my life is my friendship conflicts, and that's often primarily what drives my writing.

*shrugs* who knows.
