"Comforter" is such a cute word for a duvet.

I wrote a page and a bit of Shadow Boys (only handwritten, but still!), and also a couple more paragraphs of a short story for 5am_something. I'm so pleased/creative/productive! Unfortunately, it seems to have taken me about two hours, and now I'm going to bed at 4am again. Dammit. Oh, well. Better than 6.

As I understand it, a comforter is complete in and of itself - doesn't need a cover or anything - whereas a duvet does need a cover.

Just surfing by, but I was under the impression that the duvet *is* the cover that goes on a comforter--at least, when I go spend hours and more money than I can afford in the kitchen/bedroom/housewares stores, I notice that they call comforter covers "duvets."

But I just looked it up and m-w.com says "duvet" means "comforter." So I don't know anymore. :)

I've never come across that . . .any time I see things like bed-in-a-bag sets that have a 'comforter', it means they have a filled-blanket-without-a-removable-cover.

Whereas sets with a 'duvet cover' have a cover . . .for a duvet.

I'm just going by Buhfly, who says that you guys have duvet covers over your comforters. Duvet is what the British (and presumably the French) call comforters. We call 'em doonas.
