Aug. 22nd, 2003 06:20 pmMum's come home, and basically just said "What the fuck ever." I get NO SYMPATHY from my family. Apparently, because I'm working, I'm no longer covered under my parents' private health cover. And she says that there's no point going to the hospital tonight because they won't see me.
And though I'm reasonably sure I probably don't have appendicitis, and it's all my mind going crazy and jumping to conclusions, I now have an achy sort of pain where the doctor kept stabbing her finger in going "Does it hurt here? How about now? How about if I got my steak knife and stabbed it in?" And my body's decided it wants to throw up, so I just spent several minutes in the kitchen gagging, because my throat is fucked. I hate my life and want to die.
Mum left, then, to take Kara to ballet, and to go to Chadstone for dinner with Dad. It was implied that she wasn't particularly enthused by the idea of me coming with. Apparently there's some great leftovers in the fridge I can eat. Fuckers.
On a more cheerful note, I managed to run into Zan on AIM for the first time in bloody months, and he showed me the sketch for my Absinthe Fairy. And it's frelling awesome. I can't wait to see what she'll look like when she's coloured.
I've also started a database, to catalogue my books. Because secretly, I'm a librarian. No really. I actually learnt how to use basic functions of Access (such as creating a drop down box etc) in year 11, and it's astounding how little I remember. Access is far less user friendly than it used to be, too, so I actually have to use this dusty knowledge to get the damn thing to work. Then I closed it down, because my computer was bitching that it didn't have enough memory. Liar. I might start it up again, though, because I have no books to read, and there's only so many times you can check your friends page and your email.
Or I could play Diablo II and/or The Sims. Yeah, that's a much better idea! I'll do that.
Ever since we installed this new drive (and all the OS stress that involved), Netscape (the only browser of the main two that actually works half-decently on my computer) has been crashing for no apparent reason. So, I finally took Ray up on his suggestion and installed Mozilla (Firebird, to be exact). It works like a dream. I like the tab format, and it hasn't really crashed yet. (Damn, but my expectations are low.) So much love for Mozilla. Winamp seems to be playing up, though. This actually just may be AVG's fault, though. Why did it start at 6pm? What a stupid time to check my drives! I want to use my computer, dammit. And I KNOW I told you yesterday to check it at about 1pm instead. Stupid thing. *thwaps it*
Ew. I just got some hommus out of the fridge to eat for dinner, and it has these kinda bubble-shaped tumour thingies on its surface. I think I'm going to put that one right back where I found it. I'm sick enough already, thank you. And all alone in my house. *sigh*
