Stayed home from work today... it's the sick day I've been promising myself for weeks. (With reason.) I went to bed feeling nauseous, and I woke up feeling nauseous. I got up, went to the lavatory and decided to sleep in. It was wonderful.

Got nothing done, but I finished Cerulean Sins. Didn't have many pages to go, anyway. I need a new book. I've already finished the fairy tales book I bought on Monday (with a new Neil Gaiman story in it! Well, one I hadn't read before. And less "story" than "story-poem". *shrugs*).

I'm off to bed. I have to go to work tomorrow... I can't really afford to not be paid for two days running. *sigh*

So what did you think of Cerulean Sins? I thought, as usual, too many plot threads were dangled in front of us and then tied in messy knots in the last ten pages. Sigh. It's a sad addiction that keeps me reading.

A billion times better than Narcissus in Chains... but then, that's not hard.

I agree, the pacing could be worked on.

*Sigh* You're not the only one.

Do you read the Merry Gentry books? If so, did the first one seem extremely truncated to you?

It's like she has an elaborate plot and then somehow it gets insanely simplified. I don't get it.

I did...

I wasn't particularly impressed. And I don't remember them particularly well, so I'd have to go back and read them again...

I feel like she sometimes has these wonderful plots, then gets distracted by sex.

YES! more plot less porn!

Her conception of the Sidhe is at the least interesting, but she spends too much time describing beautiful men. It's very interesting if one compares the two series to see her fetishes in action (long haired men, for example).

Yep. And she's guilty of one of the more blatant literary Mary-Sues I've ever seen. Could Merry and Anita be more alike? Oh, sorry. Merry has red-black hair. She must be a whole different person. They two of them even have the same grandmother, for crying out loud!

OH, I know! and have you ever seen a picture of LKH?! She is short and has long curly dark hair. Hmmm, wish fulfilment much?

sigh.

and I KNOW I'm buying the next book. I am.

Yep, I know. *rolls eyes at LKH*

Yeah, well, I did actually like this one. So I'll probably buy it in paperback... *shrugs*

I can suggest a book....if you like the whole "werewolf" theme. Try "Bitten" by Kelly Armstrong. I'm currently reading it and it's distracting me from everything I should be doing. I should just sit down and read it in one hit instead of a chapter here a chapter there.

I'll try and remember that one next time I'm at a bookshop. :)
