May. 20th, 2003 11:18 pmOkay, the photos have been transported to my computer, cropped, resized, and (in some cases) had the light adjusted.
All I need to do now is write the commentary and put together the HTML. I hate doing HTML for pictures. Woo, it's late. This will probably get done tomorrow... probably. I bet you're all on the edge of your seats for that, eh? e_e
Having finally finished the book, I've started to gear up for the next project; the gothy can can costume. I spent a quarter of an hour improving my sketch of it in my lunchbreak today...basically because I was bored and had nothing better to do. I plan on inking and colouring the sketch, and posting it in my journal for you all to see. Don't hold your breath, though. This may not get done until the weekend at least. Damn full time work.
Using the microfilm machine at work still makes me feel nauseous. I'm not sure whether it's the toner from the printer (damn, but I hate that smell now! The printer's just in front of my lap. V. poor placing, I feel) or the rapid movement of the scrolling documents, or what. Maybe it's a combination of the two. However: I like using the microfilm machine because I get to listen to my music while I use it. Helps the time move a little faster.
I've been idly thinking over the past few days about costumes, and masquerades. I really, really want to go to a masquerade. That would be awesome... This desire has only been intensified by my discovery of the masquerade ball community. My idle thoughts about making a mask may be realised yet...
Damn, but I want a masquerade. Maybe we could put one together! C'mon. I'm sure Nat'll be interested, and maybe Jess or even Roshi. (Of course, Roshi's total lack of being-in-Melbourne could squash this.) If we got enough people interested, and had them pay a deposit, we could hire a small venue. It'd be über neat. (That's right: over neat, or beyond neat!) Anyone interested in helping me turn this idle fancy into a reality? 'Cause, you know, I haven't actually had my 18th yet. The one that was about two years ago.
It'd have to be a few months away, as I'd want to create a costume as well as just a mask. Also many, many preparations would be necessary; hiring a venue of some description (something smallish would prolly be best), catering, music, and so forth. (Music wouldn't be that hard, I suspect. Mix CDs would work wonders.) I bet that Wendy and Sal would be interested. That's two more people... There'd prolly be a few people interested amongst the Wendy classes.
...See? This is what my attention span is like. I focus on one thing at a time (or a few small things at a time...) and get very single-minded about it. I think one of the reasons the book was so easy to bind was because I spend fucking ages thinking about it... when I went to bed, on the train... all the time, I'd be thinking about the book, and the possible problems, and how to get around them. I'd settle down to sleep, then get up and search the web for more info for the next few hours.
I drew another dress sketch today. I'm not sure whether it's simply something I've seen before, or whether it's a variation on a theme. It looks like an Edwardian (I think...I'm not brill with my periods and have nothing to refer to) dress based on a Japanese kimono. Or it could be some form of summer kimono, without the large sleeves. I'm not sure. It'll go to the back of the queue to be made, though, I think. ;)
This week's mantra: I have 69 communities, I do not need more. I have 69 communities. I do not need more...

Date: 2003-05-21 01:40 am (UTC)I was thinking of making it as school-formalish as possible, in the sense of bringing a partner, if possible. No mask, no entry. (Though we'll prolly do as Liam's parents did for Erin's 21st and have some dodgy masks at the door.)
It'll prolly be held on a Friday or Saturday night...Saturday, for preference. Do you think you could rustle up a few more people? I'll see how many we need to get to make it affordable.
