Daughter of Geeks
Jul. 13th, 2005 10:39 amor, Czar Nicholas looks like my father.
I just got an email from my dad. He's sent me an Excel document detailing our itinerary for December and January.
( Read more... )This is the first time since 1998 that we're doing it, and it's really to see the grandparents, & to spend some time with them. As Dad said, this may be our last chance.
So I'll be away for Christmas. I won't spend Christmas Day in the Botanic Gardens, as we have for the last few years - tradition in our family. Because we're so far removed from my parents' parents and siblings, we invent our own traditions remarkable quickly. I won't get to spend Boxing Day with my friends, as has also been traditional over the last four years. I may even miss my one-year anniversary with my girlfriend, as we're going to be in Shoalhaven Heads (in the south of New South Wales) when that happens. Maybe I'll head back to Melbourne early. Maybe she'd like to come up and join us. I don't know. I haven't asked her yet - I'd forgotten we'd been going until I got Dad's preliminary email last night, but S---- and I had been rather distracted, & I hadn't had the opportunity to mention it to her before we went to sleep.
But in the end, all this was my choice. I didn't have to go to Queensland, but I want to see my relatives. I haven't seen any of my grandparents in seven years, and that's far too long.
