Woo! I can see an end to the Vis Ink judging. I have finished my last story (I wrote the scoresheet in metallic ink, to celebrate). There are a couple that still need one more judge, but hey, it may not be me. And OK, we are all rereading the top x stories for Fairer Judging and such, but hey. Almost done. And then we get to read the submissions for the anthology. And then we get to edit them all.
Um.
Still, woo! Right?
Also, I went down to my favourite bookshop, where they give you a voucher at the end of each half year, to buy my Style Manual as required by my editing class, and also to order in Flights: Extreme Visions of Fantasy. They have to order it in for me from the States (Just like they had to for another anthology I can think of... and I never did get to see the Dr Lambshead book...) and it'll cost me 43 bucks, but it's hardcover so that's actually not too bad. The worry is that the magical ordering place (where magical ordering fairies eat buttercups all day) only has four copies left. And they're going to order more, but... there's over ninety people already requesting copies. Meep.
There was another good thing, what was it?
...oh yeah. It's actually not that good. I mean, it's okay. Coles Myer have asked me to attend an interview for a job. At Target. 'Least it's local -- there's an ex-friend who works in the city store I'd rather not see more than I have to. Anyway. I may not get the job, but if I do it will be mind-numbingly boring work that will at least get me paid. And then I can buy books and comics! And it won't be five days a week, like the job I had last year, which was also mind-numbingly boring. Downside: I will probably not get to listen to JJJ for eleven hours a day, but you can't have everything. Still, money, WOO!
Here's hoping I get the job.
