This was going to be quite a jocular post, but I read things on my friends list, and I take things personally, so (to quote from American Gods) "...the joy's gone out of me now, like the pee from a small boy in a swimming pool on a hot day."

Wherein Liam and I talk, Steph thinks we're both mad, and we call each other names, but in a multi-syllabic fashion. Interloper. )

Neil talked about a song on his blog yesterday, called the "March of the Sinister Ducks", by the Sinister Ducks. Today he posted a link, which I was thankful for, as I'd tried to find it yesterday and failed. He also added that the writer of the ditty, one Translucia Baboon, may be better known as Alan Moore. By the way, Chris, apparently AM has a new book out. Exciting news, what?
Full lyrics, except for a spoken bit in the background that I couldn't quite hear )

Steph and I talked for ages (possibly hours. Who knows) on the phone this evening, then we both got online and ended up talking for ages online. It was spiffy. 's nice to have someone to talk to. Certainly made my day much better than it was. Liam, Nat and I had coffee at Liaison this arvo, which was also spiffy. Well, I had some water. And some of Nat's chips. And one of the chocolate thingies in the red foil and clear cellophane that she also bought. I'm too damn poor to buy things myself, and I'd left the money my sister paid me back with at home. The ten dollars is somewhere around my room, serving as a bookmark.

The bad part of today was talking to the "writer" of this play that Nat and I agreed to rewrite. Having got bugger-all sleep last night for various reasons, I just didn't have the mental energy to tackle the project with enthusiasm. I'm already beginning to regard it as an albatross around my neck, and we haven't started yet. I'm sure I'll change my tune, but not today. I'm tired and irritable. Apparently he thinks I'm hardnosed, which makes me feel special, though. And Steph did pass on some fulsome words of praise from someone else that I'm never meant to have heard, which also utterly made my night. It's nice to have validation from someone you respect in an area you're not certain of your ability in.

I was going to have an excellent duck-themed icon for this post, but Nat's animosity towards ducks and my own problems with getting my programs to work means I just haven't the energy to finish it. Perhaps later. You can always zoom over to Steph's or Alaanja's to check out the duck icons I made for them, if you're interested.

Blah. All the good that happened today can't stave off this mood. I'm feeling the maudlin of about an eight-standard-drink drinking session fold about my shoulders, so I think it's time for bed.
