This was going to be quite a jocular post, but I read things on my friends list, and I take things personally, so (to quote from American Gods) "...the joy's gone out of me now, like the pee from a small boy in a swimming pool on a hot day."

[01:08] Del-eh-roose: *grins* Yes.
[01:09] Del-eh-roose: (And Marcel Proust 'ad an 'addock! So if you're calling the writer of #french book# a looney, I'll have to ask you to step outside!)
[01:10] Coincidence Theory: that's right... carmell attaturk had an entire menagerie called abdul.
[01:13] Del-eh-roose: I think Steph thinks we're insane sometimes.
[01:13] Coincidence Theory: I know steph thinks we're insane... see her latest LJ post?
[01:13] Del-eh-roose: Heh, yes. She told me about it.
[01:13] Del-eh-roose: I made the icon.
[01:14] Coincidence Theory: hehe.
[01:14] Del-eh-roose: Heh. I'm reading the best gen HP fanfic EVAR.
[01:15] Coincidence Theory: oh? what's it about?
[01:16] Del-eh-roose: It's an AU (Alternate Universe) where Lucius Malfoy gets to Peter first, and so Moony and Black are free. They own a bookshop near Privet Drive.
[01:16] Del-eh-roose: It's really fecking good.

[01:27] Coincidence Theory: shh... it's tired an I should be abed
[01:27] Del-eh-roose: Hee! It is. You're abed and should be tired. Or something.
[01:28] Del-eh-roose: Wah. Harry just saw the effects of the first full moon since he went to live with Sirius and Remus.
[01:29] Del-eh-roose: Anyway, you should be going to bed. *pets*
[01:31] Del-eh-roose: *shuffles you off to bed*

[01:37] Coincidence Theory: next time, gadget!
[01:38] Del-eh-roose: Next tiiiiiiime!!!

Neil talked about a song on his blog yesterday, called the "March of the Sinister Ducks", by the Sinister Ducks. Today he posted a link, which I was thankful for, as I'd tried to find it yesterday and failed. He also added that the writer of the ditty, one Translucia Baboon, may be better known as Alan Moore. By the way, Chris, apparently AM has a new book out. Exciting news, what?
Everyone thinks they're such sweet little things
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Soft downy feathers and nice little wings
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
But there's a poison I'd like to administer
You think they're cuddly but I think they're sinister
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)

What are they doing at night in the park
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Think of them waddling about in the dark
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Sneering and whisp'ring and stealing your cars
Reading pornography, smoking cigars
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)

Nasty and small: undeserving of life
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
They smirk at your hairstyle and sleep with your wife
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Dressed in plaid jackets and horrible shoes,
Getting divorces and turning to booze.
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)

Forcing old ladies to throw them some bread
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Who could deny they'd be better off dead?
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Look closer and you may recoil in surprise
At web-footed fascists with mad little eyes
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)

Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
(Unintelligible police talk through a loudspeaker)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
("But I haven't done anything wrong! These people wouldn't keep shooting them!")
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)
Ducks! Ducks! (Quack quack, quack quack)

Steph and I talked for ages (possibly hours. Who knows) on the phone this evening, then we both got online and ended up talking for ages online. It was spiffy. 's nice to have someone to talk to. Certainly made my day much better than it was. Liam, Nat and I had coffee at Liaison this arvo, which was also spiffy. Well, I had some water. And some of Nat's chips. And one of the chocolate thingies in the red foil and clear cellophane that she also bought. I'm too damn poor to buy things myself, and I'd left the money my sister paid me back with at home. The ten dollars is somewhere around my room, serving as a bookmark.

The bad part of today was talking to the "writer" of this play that Nat and I agreed to rewrite. Having got bugger-all sleep last night for various reasons, I just didn't have the mental energy to tackle the project with enthusiasm. I'm already beginning to regard it as an albatross around my neck, and we haven't started yet. I'm sure I'll change my tune, but not today. I'm tired and irritable. Apparently he thinks I'm hardnosed, which makes me feel special, though. And Steph did pass on some fulsome words of praise from someone else that I'm never meant to have heard, which also utterly made my night. It's nice to have validation from someone you respect in an area you're not certain of your ability in.

I was going to have an excellent duck-themed icon for this post, but Nat's animosity towards ducks and my own problems with getting my programs to work means I just haven't the energy to finish it. Perhaps later. You can always zoom over to Steph's or Alaanja's to check out the duck icons I made for them, if you're interested.

Blah. All the good that happened today can't stave off this mood. I'm feeling the maudlin of about an eight-standard-drink drinking session fold about my shoulders, so I think it's time for bed.

You have expressed in words something I had always suspected.

Ha, I just wish it were my words. They're by Alan Moore, and it's a song. I just accidentally posted it when I'm only halfway through the post. It'll be taken off "private" view then. ;)

On an unrelated note, I'm fairly certain I still have the first episode of Birds of Prey. Now, seeing as I can't call you *mumblemumblestupidmemumble*, are you still interested? Or did later episodes and dire warnings scare you off from seeing it?

I am. Hmm. I was in at Melbourne Uni yesterday, actually. I'll be in next Monday, if that helps.

I'll be roleplaying it up then, I'm afraid, so that's probably a no-go in terms of exchange. Any other times?

Yes. I am disproportionatly excited about meeting some HP fandom people. I think you and Erin are the only people left that I know who can/will discuss HP and the fandom. It is so sad...

Damn Alan Moore and his apparent inability to give me League 2!!
It's out in hardback now, so hopefully it won't be _too_ long until it comes out in paperback, but honestly! I bought Top Ten and League 1 at about the same time, and got Top Ten 2 something like a year ago!
