The AWC was a Merrie and Funfilled weekend filled with many Japes and Pranks; including, but not Limited to:
Staying up until 4am talking about Determinism Versus Free Will in the Enlightenment with Steph and henceforth accidentally Locking Myself out of my Cabin;
Consequently getting up the next day at Seven AM as we had Breakfast Duty;
The many and strange Amusements of Discovering the conference is held where I had Year Nine camp;
Dancing until Midnight when I swore I would go to Bed Early;
Driving for Five Hours when I thought I was going to Bendigo and thusly would be driving for Two;
Random capitalisation; and
Leaving my Pillow Behind.

It is this last that Cuts most considerably, although I did not like the Pillowe in question, it was of comfort to my Sorely Tried neck.

I shall have a Neck like something Immovable tomorrow.

OMG. I wish Neil would come to Australia.

He talked a bit about Endless Night (which I did buy myself a copy of before the show) and then read the story 15 Portraits of Despair and talked some more and then answered some questions. Most of them were good -- can't remember most of them. HIs next project is the novel Ananszi Boys which is a vague sequel to American Gods but something he describes as "a romp" about Mr. Ananszi's two sons, one of whom has god-like powers and the other who doesn't. Then a children's book, working title The Graveyard Book which is his version of The Jungle Book only in this case, the child in question's parents are murdered and he's raised by dead people, not wolves. No. I'm not kidding. He said it will be "very scary". Then after that, he might get to the story of how Delight Became Delirium, mostly because if he doesn't "People will hit me with sticks". [My bold]

Adding to the fangirlish love, someone just posted a picture of Orlando Bloom and that Aussie guy from some random comedy thing who did Poita whose name escapes me for the moment (otherwise known as Eric Bana) in the new movie about Troy.

I know I'm supposed to be fangirling how hot OB looks, but I can't help but do little ecstatic-Classics-fangirl type dances about how OB looks like the perfect Paris, and how EB looks surprisingly perfect as Hector.

I'm just going to go over there and have a lie-down. Mmm, Homeric.

It hadn't occurred to us that people who already had the Sandman books would see the new Sandman covers and want them, but lots of people have written in en masse and asked about ways of obtaining them to put on their own books. DC's investigating a way of packaging the ten covers alone, the hardback versions with dustflaps, with a slip of cardboard, for more or less cost, for those people who want them. I'll put something up when it's figured out, if it happens.

I really hope this goes ahead. Because otherwise I will be forced to repurchase my entire Sandman library with the new orgasmic[al?]ly good Dave McKean covers in hardback, and sell my old ones on ebay.
