According to Daria (always an accurate historical source), the bit about the cake was actually taken from a story about a princess written by Rousseau. One day I'll check that claim...
Randomly, are you a French History major, or a French Language major? And if the former, have you read any Peter McPhee? He was my lecturer. I'm just curious. :)
