There is now a trailer out for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It looks like it bears little to no resemblence to the spirit of the graphic novel, which makes me sad. It looks like Mina has magically become a flashy Hollywood vampire. For the love of all that is good and holy! I mean, Peta Wilson! What the hell were they thinking? It should have been someone like Jennifer Ehle, who can be rawther prim and proper and still prod buttock as hard (if not harder) than the next man. And those stupid, so very American initials: LXG. Are they trying to encourage their children to be illiterate?

On the plus side, it looks like it's going to be a pretty, shiny movie. And it has Sean Connery and Richard Roxburgh. We'll pretend that Mina's character wasn't haemorrhaged out of existence and perform a memory wipe so we don't remember the original comic, and we may enjoy it. Mina was one of my favourite characters, but I'll just have to sacrifice her and pray to the good God above that Captain Nemo rocks as hard as he does in the book.

I must to bed. Tomorrow I will go to the post office and enquire about postage to the US. I will also stop using italics so frequently.

Jennifer Ehle is wonderful, and should be in all films. With Rachel Weisz. Yep.

What's wrong with italics?

She prods serious buttock. Remind me who Rachel Weisz is again?

Rachel Weisz was in the appalling 'Enemy at the Gates', and the rather good 'Sunshine'. I can't remember much of the latter, but one does get to see her bottom in the former.

Hmm, that sounds quite remarkably pervy. Well done me.

Don't think I've seen either of them, but I have a sneaking suspicion I've seen her in something. Dammit, too lazy to look it up.

It's America innit? They encourage their children to be illiterate, fierce AND ignorant.

Yes, yes he is. I think he's actually a half-decent casting choice for Alan Quartermain.
I know sex sells, but Mina's character has now been forced into submission at the alter of
suckage.
The graphic novel roxxors my soxxors. ^^
But why did they feel the need to reduce it to an acronym anyway?

Maybe its not entirely true to the graphic novel...

BUT SEAN CONNERY!

Yegads! The man is pure gold, because even if the movie sucks, the lads and I are going to end up chanting Celebrity Jeopardy lines during the whole thing!

"That really is a nice suit, Trebek..."
"Oh, thank you."
"Where did you get it?"
"Sterns."
"... That really is a great suit... do they have it in mens??? Oh ho ho ho!"

"The day is mine!"

"Famous titles!... This novel inspired the movie Gone with the Wind. GONE WITH THE WIND!"
"Dolly Parton!"

Yipes, no wonder the trailer's downloading so slowly . . . it was linked on Slashdot.

I watched the trailer and I feel that the only really stupid thing they've done with it is give Mina over the top vampire powers. The name thing is only mildly stupid :P
