So very, very tired.

Haven't been online for the past few days because I've been staying at Chris & Sara's. Chris and I have been playing X-Box and Alpha Centauri and Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

I played basketball today with Chris and co. 'Twas fun.

I'm barely able to string to sentences together, I'm so tired....

Tried to check my friends page and my browser crashed. I'm taking this as a sign and going to bed.

And damn, you're like glue when it comes to defending.

You were forcing Mick and Steve to pass the ball off. Most impressive on those two, they're the most skilled players on our team (crapness of the team notwithstanding). Try and dig up runners or something by next time though. Those boots are scary, even for people who don't see a Nanny Ogg connection straight off . . .

*grins* I'm glad I'm doing something right. That was the aim, of course; the whole point of defence is that it's supposed to make it more difficult for the other team. I did learn stuff in PE; who would have thought it?

I promise I'll try to find my runners. I'm really not sure where they are... I loff those runners. I think I've had them since grade 4, but I've definitely had them since year 7. They're at least 7 years old. That says something about the size of my feet, and how little they've grown in that time...

I must admit that I was somewhat surprised that no one else really tries to defend the ball unless you're practically on top of the key.

I learned absolutely nothing in PE at school, except that PE sucks and is to be avoided at all costs. That probably has something to do with my body shape and my personality at that time though.

On the runners, be aware that good shoes can be important. I was getting muchly painful shin splints (where the shin feels like it's bruised etc) and couldn't work out why, and the problem went away instantly when I switched from a worn down old set of runners to a brand new set of cross trainers. New Balance cross-trainers are fantastic, if you have the option of getting a pair of shoes for Xmas or something (3 of us wear New Balance).

I must admit that I was somewhat surprised that no one else really tries to defend the ball unless you're practically on top of the key.

Ah yes. The reason for this is that if they get past you (and some of the guys are very good at driving past people), they'll be so far past you that you're effectively out of the equation. Also, if they pass off to someone else you're miles away from the ball.

So we defend the key, and only go out if people are going to try to shoot from the 3-point line. Mostly, anyway ;-)

Returning to my original point though, you do kick ass at defence ;-)

I don't want to take away from that.

Well, you guys can defend the key because I'm useless at that anyway, and I'll run after people and make their lives difficult. :D

Spoke to my parents and they're happy to get me some runners for Christmas. I just have to buy them myself.

:)

Fantastic!
Well, myself and everyone I know recommends New Balance Cross Trainers for general purpose runners. Basketball boots might be better for bball, but wear out quickly for any other uses (and I can't seem to find any New Balance bball boots in Australia anyway, not sure why).

Rebel Sports is quite a good place to get them. We can go sometime if you like.

That would be brill. If you're happy to take the time out of your busy schedule... *grins*

Oh, and it's all nifty and stuff that we've discovered you can save and resume Alpha Centauri multiplayer games, because now we can save and go to bed at midnight instead of having to try and finish the game first.

Shame about Halo though. We probably need a good 2 hour run at it each time to be sure of finishing a given level - particularly the levels in the library, which is a most evil place.

Yeh, agreed on both those counts. *grins*

I think we only have one level of the library to go, fortunately. It's a bastard though, IIRC.
