Some advice needed
Aug. 11th, 2002 01:06 amI'm about to send this to my boss. Anyone have any advice?
Dear Anthea,
I am sorry to inconvenience you again, but I have a play coming up this week and next, and I can't work my usual shifts. I would have told you earlier, but the week I got confirmation of the dates was also (unluckily) the week you put out the rosters, and so I foolishly thought I could help to arrange to change shifts so as not to bother you.
I have spoken with Emma and Jan, and they are willing to exchange shifts. Liane also indicated that should I be desperate she'd be happy to help with the exchange of a shift on Fridays. In the situation worked out between Jan, Emma and myself, I would work Jan's early morning shift 0800-1200 on 15/8 and 22/8, and she would work my Friday shift 1600-2300 on 16/8 and 23/8. Similarly, I would work Emma's Sunday shift 1400-2300 18/8 and 1600-2300 25/8, and she would work my Saturday shift 1600-2300 on 17/8 and 24/8.
I apologise yet again for the late notice, and I stress that by no means are any of these changes arranged, but rather are left up to your discretion, and are reliant on your approval. I am perfectly cognisant of the difficulty this presents you and also my colleagues, and for that I most sincerely apologise.
I am aware that my timetable is more mutable and likely to change on comparatively short notice than anyone's at TMC, and I know that this is perhaps at times incompatible with the ethos of the staff. Perhaps it would be better for all concerned if I give my (2 weeks'/month's) notice and allowed you to seek an employee more suited to TMC's current position.
regards,
Danika.
