Detritus from my day
Aug. 5th, 2002 01:33 amI just suddenly realised that I've been mispronouncing leitmotif in my head for all my life. I've been pronouncing it "l33tmotif", but as it stems from the German, it should be pronounced "litemotif".
By the way, does anyone know who the "NSA" are from today's BMB?
I'm reading people's assessments of the US version of QAF, and have decided I really am not missing much. That having been said, Nat and I need to watch the rest of Julian's UK QAF so we can return it to him.
Am I one of the only people on the planet who thinks that Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair's kiss on Cruel Intentions was one of the unsexiest things I've ever seen? Not quite up with Warwick Cappa, but close.

Date: 2002-08-07 07:16 am (UTC)I don't really like her as a person or an actress, but I do enjoy Buffy thoroughly. It was actually SMG (partly) which kept me away for so long. :)
I'm kinda not surprised that the US version isn't as good. The US really haven't had a very good track record of converting UK shows. I saw shots of both casts on PlanetOut.com before I saw anything of either, and the US cast all have the plastic artificial prettiness that the UK cast have. That's one reason why I prefer UK shows and movies; the people are so much more real.

Date: 2002-08-06 03:36 am (UTC)NSA?
National Security Agency
National Society of Artists
Nine Silly Aardvarks
Not So 'Asty (Mr Plod)
Meanwhile I have written (www.livejournal.com/users/fineliner/) my first entry. Nice to be writing again tho Billgates only knows what evil has been building up in my head waiting to be released. Kinda like a fat baby that's eaten too much vindaloo. Enjoy!

Date: 2002-08-07 07:10 am (UTC)And you know what? Warwick Cappa (Av's spelling, but she works at that resorty place on the Gold Coast and should know) may come from QLD (I don't know), but THE CROCODILE HUNTER comes from Victoria. So neener.
(I'm going with your second suggestion there, but I don't know...)
