To Dare

I had Bad Luck with public transport today. The tram to take me to work skimmed right past my stop without stopping to pick anyone, including me, up. On the way home my train got into the city loop before pausing there (problem further down the line). Luckily I could change trains to another line and continue on. Then when I got to my station, the connecting tram didn't turn up for ages.

So I got home about the same time as yesterday, despite leaving work about half an hour earlier. Sigh.

I've been reading Havi Brooks' blog a bit today. I've been thinking about my stucknesses and sovereignty and trying to make space for the things I want to do. Embryonic thoughts so far, really.

I still REALLY want to get the Shiva Nata DVD, but I can't justify it to myself. I might technically have the money, but I have a melodeon to pay off, and soon I'll be moving into a house of my own, which means a bond and having to pay rent again. Plus I feel embarrassed about buying something like that and getting it shipped to me when I'm staying in a friend's house more or less free of charge. It's bad enough that I bought myself a new phone after my old one got stolen. No more extravagent purchases.

This year (and the end of last year) I have been saying Yes to things more often. Having more adventures (At least, it feels that way):
  • On Tuesday I have an interview with a sustainability festival that I'm going to volunteer with for a few days in Feb. It's exciting, even though it won't pay.
  • I've just signed up with a beginning Iyengar class with my old yoga teacher whom I love.
  • My next term of bellydance classes start next week!
  • I've just printed out the form to apply for singing lessons (again).
Yay, me!

I got bit twenty-seven-freaking-times taking the compost out to the bin tonight. And then I just got bit two more times by a mosquito who's made it into the house. Despite the fact that I'm practically marinated in bug spray.

And of course, the two bites are on my feet, on bits with thick skin which mean they've swollen up and are hot and itchy and uncomfortable in that particular way that mosquito bites in awkward places are. I could write a whole post on my misery re: bites tonight. Argh.

By all the gods, I wish I had something other than Amolin cream to put on them.
