I didn't get the job at Oxbridge. I didn't even get to the second round of interviews.

It looks like we're not going to get the house, either. The owner, despite having two applications, wants to put it back on the market to have more people to choose from.
This is probably a good thing, considering I won't be getting the Oxbridge job.

I could cry, really I could.

I'm sorry, D.

I don't know if it's any help to you, but I'm looking for housemates - though in Boronia, might be too far out for you both. cher.the.muse at gmail if you want to talk about it.

Things will work out... Just keep on chugging along with the job applications and soon enough someone will appreciate how fabulous you are. :)

I'm so sorry, job interviews are as bad as auditions; sometimes someone else is being groomed for the positon, sometimes the interviewer really doesn't know what they are looking for.

I've got all digits crossed for you though.

The house thing really doesn't surprise me, so don't let it get you down. We had to apply for about a dozen places before we got our first rented place. It's nothing personal - it's simply that you don't have a rental history yet. It got us really depressed too. However, it could also be because you're two couples applying together - anything out of the ordinary makes landlords suspicious. They tend to think that you might be turning it into a party house, and call it a 'no way' job. Seriously, don't let it get you down.

But when you apply for the next place, I'd consider applying as a single couple. Ask Hedda and Liam to apply, and you guys go in 'off the record' i.e. the landlords don't know you're sharing. It looks a lot more ordinary to have one couple living together than two, and despite the fact that their finciancial ability to pay the rent would be lower, I bet they'd stand a better chance ofgetting a place. It's weird, but it's just the way it is. Landlords (and Landladies) are judgemental old fuddy duddies.
