Employment and bicycles.
Jul. 31st, 2006 12:29 pmBack from my parents' place again. I may have a part-time job that'll see S and I are commuting over to the other side of the city every week, which will be a pain in the butt, not to mention a regression to last year. Also, there will be no travel to that side of the city without the laptop again. I need my internets. I need it. Also access to email. I get twitchy if I'm without it for too long. I've been applying for jobs, dammit.
The good thing about this horribly inconvenient job is that I can ride my bike to work, which is nice. My bike and I have developed quite a partnership in the last few weeks. It now has a luggage rack, and a basket screwed to the luggage rack for groceries and such. I love my bike. It is far more environmentally-friendly than my car, is helping me get fit, and also saves me on petrol, which at almost $70 for a tank is not to be sneezed at.
I have applied for more jobs; at Camford, and at Oxbridge again. My sister thinks I should lower my standards, but those were the jobs I heard about, dammit. Jess has promised to stalk the Oxbridge offices again and try to strong-arm them into giving me the job, so I am hopeful. I shall work in the publishing industry! Someday.
