Oh nested tables, how I both love and loathe thee.

OK, until your next post I assumed you were talking about furniture.

I don't know how to use CSS, so tables it is. My current LJ layout? Has up to six or seven tables nested in one another.

Neither did I at the start of the year. Easy to learn though. There is the issue of the scarcity of that commodity called time though...

And ohh! That is a pretty LJ layout. Now I want to go change mine. Gargh! Time!

Yes, but how am I supposed to learn it? Can I just open my mind to the wonders of the universe and let it flow in? I have no money for books.

Thanks! It's a bit old now. I was thinking of changing it.

Well I'm no longer at uni (as a student anyway), so it wasn't from there!

So, for when you're having a boring afternoon/week/month:

The "home" of CSS (full specifications on there too) (http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/)
A reasonable introduction (http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/Style)
More clickity click (http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp)
Some more advanced "how-to"s (http://www.alistapart.com/topics/css/)
Some funky demonstrations of what's possible (even "easy") with CSS (http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/)
More demonstrations, these ones by graphic design people instead of coders (http://www.csszengarden.com/)

It really depends how you like to learn. With new techy/codey stuff I generally read a few basic introductions so I know some of the terminology, then download the official specification, and go through a heap of "how-to"s in conjunction with the full spec.

*l* shows how often I click through to my friends' actual main pages...
