I have piles o' stuff on my desk. I have the CDs that don't fit in my CD racks. I have the books that I pulled out as reference books (Complete Works of Oscar Wilde, ironically for a throwaway line in an essay), one book to check a first line (Secret Diary of Adrian Mole), one to quote a first line (The Monkey's Mask - clearly none of villainny's readers appreciate fine Australian crime-poetry), two because I'm going to bookcross them (No Safe Place and Hot Buns and Ophelia get a bloke), one because I'm writing an essay and a presentation on it for Editing (Jennifer Government), one because I'm preparing a presentation on it for Young Adult (Holly Black's Tithe). A Hellblazer comic.

And there's a big pile of clean clothes on the bed from where I overturned my washing basket in my haste to get out of the house.

Methinks it's cleaning time. Perhaps a little tomorrow, before work. Thank goodness my girlfriend won't be coming over until the weekend.

Mmmm. Tithe. Excellent book. And I did enjoy the Monkey's Mask, although I can't really remember it completely clearly.
I have discovered Jan Bondeson, a most excellent non fiction writer. You should check him out sometime.
And - do piles of books really count as mess?
