Our school computers have been updated to OS X, but my teacher insists on calling it "System Ten". He is very odd.

Well, technically it is System Ten (the preceding one was System 9, etc etc). OS X is just the cool name...

Bah, the teacher's just trying to show off his knowledge for the sake of his ego. Slightly worse than the people who call Windows 2000 'NT 5', because while MS sometimes use that terminology, Apple never seems to call OSX 'System 10'.

Happy Birthday Danika

I'm just so used to people talking about them as OSs or Operating Systems rather than "Systems". That's what threw me. I'm perfectly cognizant that X indicated it was the tenth build.

Thank you.

Sorry, what I should have made clear was that the acronym OS wasn't really used until about version 8 I think... before that it was always called System... it's just a change in terminology that people who've been using macs since the dawn of time may not have kept up with.

Aha! That makes sense, considering the (somewhat eccentric) individual involved.
