It was called Rome still, in this universe.
That's where people went wrong. They assumed that just because the two boys were twins, they were the same. Remus was never as competitive.
It was Romulus who started the stupid fight. He didn't feel like he'd earned anything until he'd wrested it from his brother's hands, so when it came to naming the new city, it was back to their old boyish wrestling games.
It wasn't Remus' fault that his brother's head had struck the rock with such force. Remus tried to stop the bleeding, but it was no good. He had lost his twin.
He named the city after his brother. It was the least he could do.
This comes partly due to people writing "alternate universes" where Remus won and so Rome is called Reme. Like, how original! *vomits*
It's only around 118 words long. I am so master of the stupidlyshort!fic.

Date: 2004-05-06 10:39 am (UTC)When I think Reme, I think Christopher Stasheff and Her Majesty's Wizard, which I read when I was a kid--10, maybe? Anyway, definitely time for a change, and this is just great.

Date: 2004-05-06 11:31 am (UTC)I reread the beginning of that recently. I'm pretty sure it's not the only offender, though. I would have read that in at least one other book, I'm sure.
