Knee socks make me happy.
May. 4th, 2004 01:16 amI am not interesting today, because I am never interesting on Mondays. I have eight solid hours of class.
Ooh! I did wear one of my pairs of knee-high black-and-grey stripey socks though. And I have these fine cheesecloth pants that I wore as drawers under my ankle-length skirt. I want more pairs of drawers.
Jess and I did quite a bit of talking after Short Story. She's going to do NaNo with me, come November (WOOHOO!), and we've jotted down some ideas for expanding my short story Waiting For The Perfect Shot (warning: that link goes to a draft version; the final is a leetle more polished) into a novel, and that's what I'm going to write. We also talked about expanding The Future History of NuLife Pharmaceuticals into a novelish thing, which is something we've talked about before. Got some concrete notes this time. This story wouldn't be expanded, it would be part of a "novel" with other short stories, which all explore the way this company has changed the world, particularly its social structure. I'm aiming for something that's somewhere between Ray Bradbury, Ira Levin (okay, his Stepford Wives thing--it's the only one I've read) and Philip K. Dick (according to Jess. I haven't read enough of his stuff to know). Also, does anyone know the author of Soylent Green, if there is a Soylent Green book. I think there is, but I'm not sure. Oh, I know! imdb.com. (Harry Harrison - Make Room! Make Room!) The thing I'm most afraid of is not treading new ground. Yes, it'll be somewhat 60s horror/sci-fi, and a little... post modern. But in a good way, I promise.
*ponders* Maybe I should repost those two short stories to this journal. Is there anyone here who wants to read them who isn't already on my writing journal?
Oh, and just to let you know: Wackiness has updated. There'll also be a comic this Thursday. Just FYI.
