Dec. 15th, 2003 02:53 amHoly Cernunnos's Antlers! Where did December go? I've really got to get those two packages that I haven't even completely bought yet into the post as soon as possible. Like, perhaps tomorrow. I should probably blow off going to the newly-reopened Gallery with Steph and Jacinta--there's guilt, but the likelihood of me getting up in time and also going to Chadstone on the way is low.
Went to see Wendy perform tonight. 'Twas awesome, as always. It's the first time I've seen her play since she got back from her tour. Steph also bought me Alex (attractive violinist who looks like Billy Boyd)'s CD, and it's very cool--particularly the last track.
Y'know, if GWB gets reelected on the strength of him having found Saddam, I vote that we bomb America off the face of the Earth. I'm planning on giving all the cool people asylum beforehand in Australia. We have a whole lot of room, and I'm sure any Texans among them would feel right at home either in WA (lots of desert--Texas has desert, right?) or QLD. Not only that, lots of them will be white, and most at least speak English, so I'm sure the Howard Government wouldn't mind letting them in! Hell, Radish and Buhfly and Urbanfae can come live in my roof. There may not be lots of room, but we'll have taken out Bush. I think that's a step forward. Now we just need to work out some sort of way of saving Canada. And after the bombing? A really cool repatriation program! We could use the money we're currently using so that Howard and Bush can wank over Iraq, and we could rebuild America from the ground up! It's be really cool, just like in The Stand, only without Randall Flagg. It's an idea right on par with invading Iraq, I reckon!
I've already had to delete my first icon to make way for a new one, since getting the full 50 icons. My angst is so great.

Date: 2003-12-14 07:53 pm (UTC)And y'know, everyone always goes on about deadly snakes and spiders in Australia. I've met one. One fricking white tail. That's it. You don't tend to see them in Melbourne. A lot of them live in the Outback.

Date: 2003-12-14 08:19 pm (UTC)It's actually not the rich Republicans who are the scary people--they have some influence but there's not that many of them. It's the poor fundamentalist Christian Coalition people who have hijacked the country, and I want them gone. But unfortunately, I live nearby an awful lot of them, and I like my part of the country, so I don't really want it bombed. I'm picky like that.

Date: 2003-12-15 02:36 am (UTC)can't we just give all the stupid white men sex changes and change their skin colour and their socioeconomic status and make them live like some of the millions upon millions of people in this world who don't have it as good as they do?

Date: 2003-12-15 01:25 pm (UTC)I'm actually a little surprised they didn't tuck him away in some secret facility until about October before the Presidential election then break out the flag, play the national anthem loudly, say "the intelligence say Saddam was leading all the insurgence attacks using two tins and a bit of strong, it's all going to be fine now! And look, WMD, cunningly disguised as... uh... a rock!" then watch the polls spike in time for the election...
As it is, any euphoria is likely to erode. And the trial (leaving aside how I think the international criminal court should try it) a lot of unpleasant things are likely to be made public (especially with Iran preparing a dosier) about western support of Saddam should rock the boat a little.
