Went to Chris and Sara's tonight to game. Chris and I managed to get through about one and a half levels on Legendary, which took us several hours. God, it was a slog. There was no possibly way we were going to finish that second level before sunup, and Chris works sensible hours during the week. It's a pity you can't save at checkpoints, the way you can on single-player. As Chris says, that's a game fault that should be rectified in Halo 2.

*blinks* 49 icons used? What am I going to do when it's 50?

Well, yes. ;)

It'll be strange to have to go back to the "want new icons? Delete some old ones" after such a while.

I found that level 2 was the hardest level in the entire game on Legendary. The scene where you go up inside the alien ship and get stormed from all the different doors by the invisible sword elites was damn near impossible (especially playing alone with those worthless marines). Once you get passed that it's all a matter of tactical sneaking/guerilla warfare and a lot more fun....well, till you get to the flood anyway.

That Truth and Reconciliation? The one where you have to rescue Keys, and for some dumbfuck reason he thinks it's smart to run ahead of the Master Chief and get himself killed?

That one's pretty much agreed to be the most difficult, I think. The next level wasn't too bad, but the level after that's the one mostly outside in the snow, with the tank. It was just taking too long... and I was playing coop with a mate who decided it was smart to just go in, guns blazing. He got himself killed a lot. A lot.

*shrugs* Still not as bad as T&R, but we just didn't have the time to finish the second level we were playing tonight. It's taken us several sessions just to get this far, and at the moment we're only averaging a level a session...

Yeah, is so satisfying to beat a level in this difficulty no matter how long it takes! I am not usually the type to go back and replay games on higher difficulty but Halo was different. Maybe it's because the enemy AI is actually BETTER as opposed to just making them do more damage and be harder to kill.

They still did have to make them do more damage and be harder to kill though, sadly. Plus there are lots more of them.
They ARE a bit more intelligent, but even a really good player is still going to die frequently on Legendary.

*nods* The dodgers are about a billion times more intelligent for one, damn them. And those guys were intelligent to start with.

That'll be level 3 . . . I found the sword guys aren't so bad if you manage to keep hold of the sniper rifle (tough on Legendary), but actually getting onto the ship was a PITA.
