Nov. 7th, 2003 01:43 amOh, I forgot to mention. When I gave the interview today (today still being Thursday in my head), the woman took it in shorthand. She said she'd never had to write "archaeologist" in shorthand before. Heh.
I've just woken up, having gone to bed at 8pm Thursday (I'm going back to bed shortly). I checked the ABC "Just In" news, only to be greeted by the following headline:
British Conservatives choose Howard as leader
What the hell? I think. I read the little paragraph underneath, and I discover that the British Conservative Party (the Tories, unless I'm mistaken. Bet you didn't know I knew that, right? At least, it certainly used to be. *whistles*) have elected a gentleman named Michael Howard to resolve their current leadership crisis.
Still, I'm amused.

Date: 2003-11-06 04:39 pm (UTC)*deep breath* there follows a party political dissing.
I was in favour of the Tories dumping IDS, the man who had a complete charisma-ectomy, because otherwise the Tories wouldn;t be electable.
Now don;t get me wrong, I'd rather put sensitive parts of my anatomy in a food processor before seeing the tories get in power again - but we need an opposition party. I don't know how familiar people are w/ British politics, but basically Blair's New Labour (aka "Right Wing Bush Bitches Masquerading as Socialists") has such a massive majority in the commons that Blair does whatever he wants. Unquestioned. We used to have an absolute monarch. Now we have an Absolute Prat.
But then I learned that Howard won... and that's scary. The man makes Thatcher look MODERATE. He's talking all nice nice, but this man has a swaztica bed spread and a little mussolini teddy dictator. And he;s an idiot - already he's crying the "we will cut taxes and increase services at the same time" line. Last I checked, he couldn't spin straw into gold.
*is very afraid*

Date: 2003-11-07 10:09 am (UTC)Bush may be a prat, but at least the Americans can say they're being lead by an American Prat (no matter how much they would like to disown him). Our Prat has just enslaved us to another, bigger Prat.
