Posted long personal post to community by accident? Check.
Find out far more about Tych's "hot throbbing manhood" than I really needed to know? Check.
Mortally insulted Canadian friends by forgetting they are, in fact, Canadian, and not "American" (by which we're using the common usage of "someone from the United States")? Check.

Right. Time to go to bed, methinks.

:: pets you::

Any reasonable Canadian will accept an apology for that at least five times. After that, I'm afraid we must declare war. ;)

*girds loins* Bring it on. I make no promises not to make such a stupid mistake again, as I have a terrible memory. But I do promise to be very apologetic if it *does* happen again. :D

Personally, I'm tired of people asking me here if I'm Canadians simply because they know Canadians get extremely offended if they are called American. I don't bloody care what nationality people think I am, but the fact that most people know that Canadians do care is sad.

Well, I think they have every right to a national identity, which is where their frustration stems from, and I think it *is* frustration more than offense.

I usually try and circumnavigate the issue by saying "Where are you from?" rather than "Are you Canadian/American?"

Hey.

I don't think Canadians have the stick that far up their bums.

Canadians are American too (North American). So there. I refer to people living in the USA as "those who live in the States", and Canadians as Canadians, us being in Canada and all. You can't really call a person United States of America-ain. Plah.

Happy Thanksgiving to us.

No, but that's not the point. I try to be correct in those sort of things, and not insensitive. It's not a criticism of Canada, but merely a falling on my part.

Could you call them Statesians, maybe? ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think Canadians celebrated Thanksgiving? That's just you being ironic, right?

Nope, we do celebrate Thanksgiving. It's today (the 13th).

American's Thanksgiving is in November.

There you go; live and learn. What's the sentiment behind your Thanksgiving? Is it just "Our country is so great!", or is it "Those Indians/Aborigines/Native-Type-People sure saved us from death!" like the Americans?

It's "YES! We get Monday off work/school AND we get to eat turkey!"

Mmm, turkey.

We don't have any sort of Thanksgiving. We just have Australia Day, where we get a day of work/school, and we have barbecues and play backyard cricket. And maybe go to the beach. Because we're sensible and celebrate in the tail-end of summer.

Oooh ^_^
We have Canada Day for that. July 1st, so all we get is a day off work, since school is done by then.

How I want to go to Australia... such a wonderful-seeming place... ^_^ ...

I've never referred to it as my "hot throbbing manhood" thank you very much.
But yeah, I do apologise for my glaring lack of tact. And politeness.

*grins* It's what we've come to expect from you. I'm not really that worried.

And I like to think of "hot throbbing manhood" as my special pet name for it.

* ponders * True. I'm not known for any amount of subtlety or classy behaviour.

Okay. You do that.

*grins* We could make it a little hat, with its name on.

Or not. *scrubs brain with bleach*

Yeah. . . Somehow, I don't think that'd be fun. Especially if there's tight elastic involved.
