Oct. 3rd, 2003 10:50 pmWhat a nothing week.
I suppose I should be grateful, as it's the sort of week I wanted a couple of weeks ago, but I'm worried about the state of my finances; viz., I don't have any. I'm currently living off the thou I had put away for the US until I get around to mailing Drake with my last paycheck. Drake still haven't rung me with any potential jobs, so I guess I need to get off my derrière and do it myself. I'm terrible at this; that's why I joined a temp agency, for fuck's sake.
The RACV came and took my car away. I'm never going to see it again. I loved that car, dammit. We had many late nights driving together.
I am amused and mildly disappointed that the only person who has so far complimented me on my schpanky purple hair was the tow-truck guy who took my car away.
Nat and I went to Chadstone and saw Tombraider 2, which I had been looking forward to. She hasn't seen the first one, so we'll have to watch it sometime soon. My personal feeling is that this one was better, though I really liked the anachrotech feel of the first one. I think I liked the overall story better in this one, but the special effects in the first one. There was only one thing I really didn't like in this one, and that was the map. I can cope with magic, but this one was totally anachronistic technologically with the map that lead you to Pandora's Box. It really irritated me. Did the Ancient Greeks know about soundwaves? Because I'm not convinced they did. The love interest was infinitely better than last time. Also, there was less of Chris Barrie and Noah Taylor's characters in this movie, which was a pity. Similarly, the whole marriage thing at the end seemed a bit tacked on, and not really part of the flow of the movie. Probably because there hadn't been enough of their characters this time around for that sort of comedy to fit. They also didn't really expand much on the significance of the villain finding Lara's headset thing. Presumably that was how he found out about Bryce and what's-his-face, but it wasn't really expanded upon.
Nat and I then went and bought shoes for the wedding, which was good, as it's now only about a week away, and I hadn't really done anything about it. We then missed our respective buses; Nat by a wide margin, and my busdriver was just being a cockspank and wouldn't let me in. Prick.
I'm at Nat's tonight, so I haven't read my friends list very comprehensively. I never can properly when I'm not at home. I'm funny like that. I'm also kinda mildly AWOL this weekend, with wedding stuff all day Saturday (wing-making, then Hen's Night), then in theory I'm going to this picnic run by Mickey's friend called Dani (not sure of the spelling, and I'm not home to check). At some stage in there I need to do some washing, too. I mostly have work-type clothes to wear. Tonight I turned up for Nat's and my movie thingie looking like some 1940s idea of "The Naughty Secretary" (maroon A-line skirt and lilac shirt with burgundy corset over that; elbow length black lace gloves under the shirt and fishnets). I'm still in mild denial about the fact that I'm going to a Hen's Night. I've just never felt enough like "one of the girls" to seriously believe I'd be going to one. It's weird.
Andie had her movie night last night. I didn't know anything about it, presumably because it was on a Thursday night and Nat and I usually have coven. I assume this. Maybe it was meant to be a "just the boys + Andie" thing, I don't know. I'm presuming things above my station, obviously. Anyway. Liam tried to get Nat to go, she didn't feel like it. I felt left out. Wackiness ensues... It sounds like a sitcom episode.
That's about all that's happened in my life, I think. JESS. Nat and I were thinking about meeting you for coffee on Monday afternoon. How does that sit with you?
Oh! And I already had an idea for a character for NaNo, but sitting through Tombraider caused me to have an idea for a second character, and also a vague plot. I'm excited.
