NaNoWriMo update
Nov. 7th, 2001 01:17 amBad news: I'm jetlagged.
Good news: I wrote 3,000 words last night.
Current Wordcount: 4,407.
Laim and Nat came over last night for an impromptu NaNoWriMo all-nighter. When I got another email from the Baillieu library telling me that one of my books was overdue, I decided that I might as well call Laim and Nat and see if they were free for a couple of hours of NaNoWriMo considering I was already heading into the city.
They were, and we spent a while in the Baillieu doing plot work. Then we went to the supermarket on campus, stocked up on sugar and caffeinated beveridges and grabbed a train to my place, where we set up two more computers in my family room and wrote like...writers doing an all-nighter. Over dinner we did some more plot planning, and I think that was probably the most productive part of the night. Although we were each other's distractions, we did at least keep each other at the computer, which is my main problem. And, as they weren't networked, neither Nat nor I were able to access the internet. This meant I actually got some work done - around three thousand words worth. I'm just amazed.
Reading Laim's Film Noir styled novel did inspire me to take my novel down a whole new path, though; Mark (my dead guy) now has...er, had...an occupation, my witch is his ex-partner...and I have a slightly different stylistic approach. Where Laim's novel is High Noir (if there is such a thing), I think my novel is just influenced.
*grins* I have a witch private-eye....
Anyway, I should probably do a little more writing, then bed. It's 1.16am, and feels like 1.16pm, so I'm about twelve hours out of whack...
