Jun. 23rd, 2003 10:51 pmHad to help Liam get his car out of the pound for lunch. Went to the comic store as I am wont to on Mondays. Bought a Alan Moore/Eddie Campbell book called Snakes and Ladders. Had been pondering about asking them to order in Scars #6, but they had it in stock. I was in shock. I bought it.
Scars #3 still isn't in. *sulks* I am refusing to read 6 until I've read 3. This is very difficult.
Other than that, I lead an uneventful life. This is the email I sent to my parents tonight, because I'm toodamnlazy to write this stuff out again:
Dearest Papa and Mama;
Eee! Hi! We're missing you already. Kara's feeling a little hassled, I think, because I keep wanting her to finish her German homework before I let her read Harry Potter.
I feel like a single parent. Nyssa's the virtuous one, who makes us clean the kitchen, but I cooked dinner tonight, and had to pick Nyssa up from ballet before I was done, and then Nyssa and I did most of the work in the kitchen. I feel like one of the kids in Party Of Five. I think I'll be very glad when you guys return and I don't have to drive people places! It's a little stressful to have to try and time it all.
I thought of something nifty you could get in America, if you're amenable to it. It's called McSweeney's Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales, and has stories from a variety of people, including Neil Gaiman and Stephen King. I tried to get it here, and apparently the US version isn't being sold here. The UK version isn't coming out until June TWO THOUSAND AND FOUR. >_< The shop assistant told me I was a year too early.
Anyway, hope you're doing well, and having a good time. We're getting on fine. Grandma wondered whether we'd had to force mum to go, so promise you'll have lots of fun so we can live it vicariously when you get back.
By the way, am I the only one who revels in old-fashioned language, particularly in letters? I wanted to sign this your loving daughter or similar, but it probably would have looked like I was taking the piss.
Also, I have new Louise Brooks icons. They rock so hard.
