Hoom.

Today I have written a new HP fic (woo!) and recorded each of the ten 2022: The Year of the Robot drabbles from here into wav format so I'd have something to send [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna as an audition piece. It was quite entertaining, and had I some sort of "wav to mp3" converter, and a program to stick multiple wav files together, and possibly filter out some of the crap, I might put them up on my site. Hell, if I just had the mp3 converter I might throw them up here. If anyone was interested. Because if not, I'm hardly going to put them up for my own gratification. I can hear my own voice fine when I speak.

Finally got my Christmas roster. Work is not open on Christmas Day, so hurrah! However, I have to work in the morning of Boxing Day, so I'll have to turn up late to the thingie Hedda's organising. Hurroo.

Got woken up at ungodly hour this morning by work, then, as was trying to catch up on sleep, was woken again by old school friend who have not seen since she told me that whatsisface was on Australian Idol 1. And I'm supposed to get up early tomorrow to meet Steph in the Botanic Gardens tomorrow. That might be a little difficult.

...maybe I just meet her there at 6pm. (joke! Joke!)

Managed to drag my sorry arse out of bed this morning to make it into the Botanic Gardens with Steph and Littlest in tow. There I wrote all of about a hundred words of Shadow Boys (which I haven't touched since before NaNo, and read some Jeeves and Wooster. I have discovered that I had not, in fact, finished the anthology I had, so I have been quietly and with great joy reading through Joy in the Morning.

Also, it rained quite a lot. The gardens look beautiful in the rain. We read aloud Act I of Romeo and Juliet, and Ben showed up, and Tych showed up eventually, and we went to the tea rooms. I had a lamb-and-rosemary pie, which was delicious, but would have been better with a sauce other than tomato to squirt on top. Also a hideously overpriced bread roll which was dry and too damn small.

Then Littlest and I came home, and Connex was more fucked up than usual, and we ended up at the wrong station, the train having "expressed" past ours. I say "expressed" because though it stopped at no stations, it was travelling slower than the usual stops-all-stations. So Littlest caught the bus home and I waited for the stupidly late train-after-next, the next train having been cancelled. Then I read more Jeeves and Wooster in the bright evening sun (yay for summer and daylight savings), picked up my car and went home.

I wrote fanfiction tonight. But not for any fandom you're familiar with. No, my fandom was the creative work of art [livejournal.com profile] mattador and co have been working on, called [livejournal.com profile] olympus_high, where the Greek gods are, well. Puppies. What do you think?

Apollo's the school's golden boy. )

And that was my day!

[Edit: OOH! Forgot! Discovered sister did not know "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost, and had not heard of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", nor of Coleridge. This is very WRONG. Also, I spilled soup through my bag and had to put it into the washing machine. And by doing so found the final of the 2022 pieces I'd written - this one in Short Story class, and though it is flash fiction, it is not a drabble.]
