Oct. 16th, 2003 01:11 amSO. I have a whole new batch of icons. I like some of them more than others, of course. There's a couple that make me twitch a little, but that's part of the joy of icon making.
They're all from these comic books I have, celebrating a very funny and sadly defunct Aussie comedy trio called D*A*A*S {The Doug Anthony fuckin' Allstars, affectionately known to many as The Dougs.}. I know some of you know them, to some of you it probably makes no sense at all. There was Paul (the gentleman in most of the icons), the short, angry one with the voice of angel; Tim, the pretty, vacuous one; and Rich, the guitarist. Paul has gone on to do things in TV like Good News Week, and for the last couple of comedy festivals has been touring with an act called GUD. Tim has whored himself to the television, appearing in numerous terrible and forgettable shows. Rich is now head of comedy at the ABC [Australian Broadcasting Corporation].
In related news, I found my friend's copy of DAAS's The Last Concert tape. I should MP3 it and give it back, as I've had it for three years, but I'm no longer in contact with her. Woe.
The comics are good. I dug them out (all three issues that I have...), scanned some images, and coloured them. I'm particularly fond of my "fandom" one, which was of course the first one I did. Most of the ones I did tonight are pretty spiffy, too.
By-the-bye, does anyone have a copy of #1 of Heath's comics? Or can point me to an online copy? It's the only one I'm missing...
To bed. Da is dragging me off to pick up my NEW CAR at the ungodly hour of 9am tomorrow. I'll create a new LJ layout later...
[Link for Jess, 'cause I know she's a politislash fan.]
